Thank you! I was having a hell of a time remembering what book I read in 4th grade that had the Doldrums but the only title I could come up with was Interstellar Pig (not as good a book... at all)

Definitely not my favorite, but that has been bugging me for a while.

Death be Not Proud - John Gunther
Read that book tens of times since the first time I picked it up in 6th grade or so. Great read, non-fiction.
I'm also a big fan of biographies if that's what you're looking for.

The Brothers Karamazov as well as Crime and Punishment are both excellent although they can be overwhelming.
The Great Gatsby- Still my favorite. Used it for the open ended question on the ap test.
Prodigal Summer- Because I am interested in ecology.

I picked up Grapes of Wrath again and am currently reading it. I liked Winter of Our Discontent but not a favorite.

The Foundation Series - Isaac Asimov
The Dune Series - Frank Herbert
Mostly anything by Douglas Adams

J.R.R. Tolkien was a very descriptive writer, and thus I love his works too.

I really liked that 1 also.
The Host by Stephenie Meyer was extremely good, as was all of Steve Berry's Cotton Malone series, and Year Zero by Jeff Long.
