good editing, love the limited paint & blind layouts, if NXL ever implemented both you would see a lot more folks playing tourney paintball (less paint = $$$ saved!)

Thank you ASTRA for this event, really enjoyed it!

I loved the blind layout, limited paint, and no commentators!

From what it looks like the limited paint format really forced guys to make moves rather than sit in the back and shoot a lane or a bounce shot. Reminded me of playing Xball back the first couple years it was a thing. Points back then were so quick I don't think I ever shot more than 3 pods personally and you had a lot of moving. I really like what I saw.

I noticed a loader dump paint off the break and a few partial reloads going onto the ground. I think the limited paint format would force players to be more mindful of these things overtime.

Loving the limited paint format. Really forces players to be more mindful, choose their shots and encourages a more aggressive style of play.

Love the Audio !

love the talking and the guns. You can even hear them running in some spots. Sure beats hearing telford tell off color jokes on a national broadcast.

This is why I am pretty much down to watching 'The Killers" practice/scrimmages on You Tube.

No music.

No commentators talking more than my last 3 girlfriends combined.

Just paintball.

Great job. I enjoyed watching.

definitely had some cool points but honestly felt like watching a glorified practice....I was thinking this would be more like a tv episode with more reality like in the pits, hype, drama, slow mo's, etc...

Rad, refreshing change of pace w/ the limited paint etc.
When you say "blind" do you mean the teams don't see it till the morning of the event or is it open to teams the evening before to walk?

The only thing I'd like to see in the future is an overhead cam, if possible. That way I can have an idea of where everyone on the field is.

2nd that.
I want to like this, really, but this kind of video style is better suited for a practice vid or music vid. I get they're going for "down an dirty, close up pov" but it was confusing as **** to watch. Yea, heres a guy shooting but.. where is he and what is he shooting at..???? There was no sense of the larger strategy and context of what's going on on the field.

I think a mix of the Astra broadcast and Gosports would do wonders for our sport. See my pros/cons comparing the two below:

Pros:
- Ability to hear the players was awesome

- Lack of same stories and repeated corny jokes over and over was nice

- Interaction between media and players on the fly was fun

- Overlay was done extremely well (player count, roster, etc.)

- Less repetitive ads (not your fault all pb advertising is corny and they like dubstep)

- Limited paint looked like it played out very well. I wish every league would standardize on this as it appears to force a more athletic play style.

Cons:
- Lack of field analysis. Similarly to what soulless does, I think this could be a regurgitated segment at the beginning of each episode, or perhaps a quick discussion with a member of each team prior to the match or even recorded after but without spoilers

- No TASTEFUL commentary. Hard to balance this one as a lot of the gosports commentary is just unnecessary talking for the sake of talking, but if you could balance the live player audio with some commentary that would be a huge win. I would think this would be easier post prod.

- No high camera angles. I think this is the biggest gap between gosports and astra and although it's probably the biggest cost difference in production challenges, I feel it's worth pointing out. A lot of the time it felt as if you were watching one side of the brick only.

- Change the damn bunker set. You aren't beholden to nxls poor choices that are redefining the game (obviously since you changed other stuff). The giant bricks really hurt your boots on the ground recording style

- Edit out the drama bs, not a good look for any outsiders. I know players love it and wanna hear how penalties flesh out and the *****ing after the fact but I doubt this works for newcomers.

All in all I think what Astra is doing is great for the sport and I hope you continue. This felt a lot more "close to the players". I'll try to do my part and watch/give constructive feedback and buy astra headbands.

Thank you Meter.

I had this same thought. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I'm not a parent with a 12 or 13 year old kid with an interest in paintball and the first video I am seeing is a bunch of guys saying **** a lot. If we want to spread the sport and bring in younger players having professional players on screen shouting obscenities isn't the way to do it imo.
