Arrow Oil slick PM7 & 1/1 prototype oil slick PM6

The PM7 you've seen, though like a lovely lady it's always fun to look at.

The PM6 is a curiosity, I suspect it was the original oil slick test body for Dye. I sourced it completely stripped down & clearly never been reassembled after coating. Unfortunately shows rash like it was in a parts bin, but pretty presentable still. I sourced a donor PM6 for internals.

Really had to coax this marker back together against some threads that had tight tolerances, but it's now a functional shooter. Only oil slick frame, hyper 2, and ASA in existence - I assume they left those out of 2007 production for cost reasons.

I’d have to say it was a sample to prove out the process. there is a good chance that gun “walked” out of the office backdoor. a rare find indeed. Back in the day we did not track samples well at all, so I can’t confirm this is a pre-production sample, but it is a very safe bet.

Those are sweet. Did you find them together or were they purchased separately?

separately -
PM7 has enough mods/general wear that I don't feel bad shooting it, it's effectively my backup.

PM6 was a random find from a fellow associated with DYE company who I think had it in the bins for years unassembled. Rather sure it's the only one alive.

They did the frame, Hyper2 and ASA on this unit but none of those parts were in the PM7 production run. Likely for both cost and tolerances reasons. All guesswork on my part though.

I didn't even catch that the whole PM6 was aurora. I've always liked the juxtaposition of the black and aurora on the PM7s, but that PM6 is undeniably unique. It looks like the 6 has a stock frame?

Yup stock frame.
I found it odd that they'd invest on the finishing but still use a stock frame - but my *theory* is still that this unit was a demo/prototype run for the finish so they just used a complete unfinished standard unit.

These look awesome! Now you just need the oil slick DM7 to have all three slick's.

I always liked the oil slicks back in the day when they first came out. Glad someone is keeping them alive. Cheers.

These are absolutely gorgeous. I love the oil slick. Looks exceptionally good with carbon fiber imo
