My current two cats are indoor only. When we get the new house liveable, I want to get one or two cats for the barn and outdoors.

Okitoki, I've often thought about training my cats to use the bathroom like that, and read up on how to do it. How long did it take you? Do they ever miss and make a mess?

Currently I have an auto tray system that I modified and built so I only ever have to empty it once and a week, and that's working out to be a pretty decent solution.

Our's was pretty normal with the exception that he wanted to lay on paper all the time, he would skip a nice soft cat bed for a stack of notebooks.
That and he acted more like a dog when it came to interactions with me.

Yeah I'm kind of looking for a F3 Male, they are around 3000 which isn't to terribly bad considering F1's are around 8-10 grand.

I would love to get an all white turkish angora one day. I think they're beautiful cats. Either that or a Maine Coon.

If money wasn't an issue, hands down i would buy two F3 savannahs. Maybe one day...

The white girl is a Burmilla which is a mix og Burmese and Chincilla. So he is very playful and loving too. He too is like a dog and would follow you around, chase a ball and get his belly rub.

The girl was a free from good home cat. So unknown ancestry. When we first got here at 5 weeks old, she was just a blob of black and brown fur. But as she ot older, her pattern became more distinct.

The training system I used can be found at www.litterkwitter.com
You can start off with the tray with sand on floor in the toilet, then move tray onto holder on the toilet, and slowly change the size of the tray with hole to make the cat used to the idea of standing on the toilet seat. Then once it's all good, then no need the trays anymore. Suggest to have a sturdy seat as the plastic one may move abit under a fatter cat

How long it took? Depends. The girl was started when she was around 1 year old and she took abit longer to get up there and do it comfortably. Maybe about 4-5 months to get to the final stage. While the boy was only 3months old when we trained him and he took it like a champ. Within 1 month he was all good surpassing his older sister

There will be the occasional accident from the older sister as she doesn't like to "share" the toilet so if there is pee or poo in there she won't do it.... And would drop it on the floor next to the toilet which I have to clean up. :yuck: maybe Simon can design an auto flush toilet?

As the website said, train you cat with a good sense of humor.

My best friend, he just walked up on the porch one day and stayed, that was 5 years ago. He's such a badass, I watched him pluck a hummingbird from the sky, and when he was a kitten he killed rabbits bigger than him. Beast of a cat too, my friends 12 week old Labrador puppy was smaller than him.

Did you use a Littermaid with a cabinet under the catch cup area? I've had a couple of Littermaids and when they worked, it was pretty great. My first one worked for about 4 years. Every replacement Littermaid I've bought since my first one has crapped out (sorry ) after a few months.

How well is your set up working out? Has it lasted?

Actually, he/she prolly does, it just isn't vocal. I know my cat has a tiny meow for his size, and only uses it when he wants something(to go outside, more food, etc). SO to answer your question: yes it's fine, it's semi-normal.

Here are some of my guys:

First, my baby, Leonidas (aka Leo). He is an Egyptian Mau and is about 1 1/2 years old.

Here is Anubis, he is a Cornish Rex. He is one of 6 Rexes that we rescued from a backyard breeder. All of them male, all of them severely neglected, scratches all over, bald spots all over, all with ear mites, one with ear mites and an ear infection so bad that his head is permanently tilted to one side. Anubis, we guess is about 1 - 1 1/2 years old.

Here is Oliver, also a Cornish Rex. He too is one of the 6 mentioned above. He seemed like he was feral when we picked him up, but now is one of the most loving cats I've ever met. We guess that he is about the same age or maybe a little younger than Anubis, as he was smaller than Anubis when we got him.

Last but not least is the Queen, Lucy. She is a Blue Point Oriental. We "rescued" her from a breeder who was neglecting her. We got her when she was 6 months old and she was way under weight. You could see all her vertebrae and ribs by sight. When we meet her the breeder told us he was getting rid of her because she didn't have enough white in her coat. Then proceeded to explain to us that the more fat a cat has on it, the darker their coat gets. So we deduced that he was starving her to try to keep a lighter coat??? We really didn't want another cat at the time, but when she was getting fidgeting in my lap, the breeder grabbed her out of my lap by one arm. It was at that point, even though we really weren't ready for another cat at the time, we had just lost a cat, we felt we didn't have a choice but to buy her from the breeder to give her a better life. She is almost 2 years old.
