New Ice.

I still don’t recommend the X. Perhaps after some people reveal how well the new parts are working at stopping the Bolt Wear...

The bolt wear is a minor issue on the original Luxe X. As long as the X you are looking for has purple detents, you should be okay.

The question for me really comes down to what you want out of your new Luxe.

Both share similar ergonomics and point the same for me.

The Luxe Ice will be less efficient, but generally a smoother more historically Luxe like shot.

The Luxe X will,be more efficient, it has a snappy shot characteristic and will be slightly easier to maintain.

If it were me, I would go with the Luxe X. Even if it doesn’t have the purple detents, DLX will send them to you at no charge.

If you can afford an X go for it. It’s a great shooter, I love mine, it’s not as fluffy as my my other luxe’s, yes it shoots different but it shoots fantastic.

The tools less marker is wonderful, the camera battery is fantastic. The barrel is great. Don’t know what else I can say besides do it.

In the DLX Section there is a thread where people with Luxe Xs have gotten a whole lot more than just Detents...

Maybe if you got a relatively new one it might have all of the updated parts?

I have heard both shot and I prefer the ice’s shot over the x but of a 77 tank for ice it’ll still get like 9 pods right?

Are you buying new or used? If you buy an X new I wouldnt be worried about the parts. If you dont have the latest parts, Luxe should send them out to you. If you are buying used I would make sure you get good pictures and ensure you have the latest.

I think the X has the most consistent shot out of all the current high ends. I would choose the X over the Ice because of that.

Agreed, unreal consistency. Have both (and an OLED) and would choose the X every time. Honestly the LV1 has been my favorite platform since it was launched and I’ll still choose the X over it if I had to.

Regarding bolt wear, it was solved pretty quickly. The newer goldish bolt is more resistant but the detents made the difference. The new can and bolt guide were rolled out for other improvements in shot quality. DLX will hook you up if you need the newer parts but anything rolling out now will have the updates.

Pretty sure the bolt is hard anno’d now vs using the ICE coating.

Not certain of the coating but it’s certainly lubricious like the other ICE parts. Certainly more than anodizing alone. I’ll DLX next time I speak to Kraig.

@Jim and whoever else is aware, the consistency is pretty damn good. I feel like the shot grouping is tight enough to match the circumference of a coffee cup. That’s an exaggeration but the consistency really is better then anything else I've seen in the past five years.

I just picked up a used Ice that I'm going to through that Encore bolt in. You are supposed to also be able to throw the new regulator in the Ice at some point so it seems like a win-win to me. I am looking for the cushy Shocker SFT/NXT/older luxe shot feel. I'll just switch to my Etha 2 if I need the added efficiency.

Back ordered right now. Hoping to see some available next week. I am not expecting it to be anything crazy compared to the Ice engine but wanted to get my hands on one since it looks like this will be the last of the SFT/NXT Shocker based designs as everyone seems to be shifting more into the unbalanced spool realm. I was actually originally intending to just flip the Ice I found but it is pulling at my heart strings.

I forgot just how incredible the ICE shoots. These are easily my favorite shooting markers. I don't think anything comes close shot quality wise or ergonomic wise.
