Same for any other sport. You got sponsors, you can't let someone with other brand gear play in your team without getting you into trouble. I can name some teams who got ditched that way in the Europe circuit though.

Damn thats some confident stupidity, would expect someone whos been around 10+ years to know that people like Rocky Cagnoni, Chris Lasoya, Max from Joy, etc all used to be individually sponsored. It was common back in the NPPL days.

It was a different time though back then. Guys had enough star power that they could do that. Now the companies seem to have all the chips in the sponsorship game and can pretty much force players to use what they want

I see both side of it but when it comes to real sponsorship, if I'm giving you something for free, and not just one thing but thousands of dollars worth of products and social posts, you better wear/use what you're supposed to.

Absolutely, there is nothing wrong with that transaction. I was just stating back then, a player like Rocky or Pony Boy could do whatever they wanted because being apart of a team/brand was super valuable in itself so they overlooked some of the gear

Rocky and Chris may have been sponsored by WDP but they were playing for Avalanche at the time. Did Rocky ever play for any team other than Avalanche shooting an Angel? Did Chris ever shoot an Angel while playing for a Bob Long sponsored team?

With a bob team no. He did shoot a BKO when he assassinated a docs raiders player in Galveston.

Matty Marshall and XSV comes to mind with this type of deal.

Max Lundqvist with Russian Legion shot his angel

Alex L with Joy shot his DM series gun

So, this has happened before but now with less companies producing or buying sponsorship you are less likely to see it. Nick is correct about Sponsorship now and how it works.

Not 100% sure as it was 15+ years ago, but like the post directly above me, there were lots of players with individual gun sponsorship's back in the day.

Now that doesn't happen. The most you will see nowadays is players like Jrab choosing to shoot an LV over a CS and like when Spicka was on Ironmen and chose to shoot a DSR over the M3+.
