Playing paintball in 2020 - what is changing at your local field?

It looks like paintball fields all over the country are opening back up. Did your local fields close? When are they expected to reopen?

Here in St Louis, fields are opening up again this next weekend on the Missouri side but not yet on the Illinois side. What should people expect? Facemasks off the field? Staging areas more spread out? Limiting numbers of people? Limiting rentals?

What's your city/state/county/country doing differently now?

Feel free to give shout outs to your local field please!

Good luck to all the paintball businesses during this tough time.

Pev's here is Virginia still shows 'closed until further notice.' The Washington Post reported "Va. governor extends widespread shutdown through May 14, says first phase of reopening could begin after that."

WASH POST ARTICLE

However, I think that the strict shelter-in-place policy has made a difference since the number of cases in VA is 19,492, and deaths is 684.

For those going to play -- don't forget to take proper steps to keep distanced and avoid contact, etc. Stay safe out there!

Maryland still a no-go. Hopefully soon! Jealous of all the other states able to ball. Hopefully the mid atlantic has some luck in its future to allow us to play responsibly.

I am interested to see how this effects the NXL season in terms of parity. How will the leagues address a state like PA, NY, or CA for instance, who are almost definitely going to keep events like Paintball closed down well after every other state opens.

Not that its a huge difference, but a team based in a state that can practice an extra month will be a decent advantage.

The NXL didn't take into account weather when some states couldn't practice and others could.

However, maybe it's time for blind layouts to make a comeback?

When do you think the next national event will actually happen?

LOL. EVERY YEAR, The first event of the year is usually end of February/Early March. This typically leaves the Midwest and Northeast covered in snow and ice while Southwest and West Coast teams get to practice the whole year thru. I think the teams can make do if a season is available to be played.

Some fields in NJ tried to open this past weekend but could not. PA fields are still closed.

ASG, Jungle Island and Backyard paintball in So Cal all opened this past weekend or are opening next weekend.
They are telling everyone to keep with social distancing, wear a mask when not on the field, and leave one extra space between each parked car.

Nothing open in MA yet, and wont be opening before the 18th at the earliest.

Even after the 18th, looks like fields might not be in the first phase of businesses eligible to reopen.

Apparently either the city or county police in Pekin Illinois will not be enforcing the stay home order and the MPPL is looking to hold their first event on May 30th.

We thought they were pushing it back two weeks to June 13th, but it looks like they decided against that and will move forward with the tournament. Teams are going to have to find fields in states where they're easing restrictions or find fields that will go against the order to practice.

Interested to see how this is going to play out.

From what I heard, they are scrapping the original layout and going with one of the NXL pro created layouts. Should be a blind layout I think. A lot of teams wont be able to practice for it.

Should be, but from talking to my teammates they're saying it's the same layout that's been out for 8 weeks.

Colorado is open for paintball, with some social distancing steps. APC opened 2 weeks ago and Blitz opened last week.

At APC they have spread tables with no more than 2 people per table, one on each end. Start boxes are 5 cones spread 6 feet apart to help keep distance.

I've always loved blind layouts as I think field walking is a lost art. I also like having the field for 2 weeks to fine tune. No matter what way the NXL goes there will be lovers and haters of the decision.

Here in South Florida it seems some fields opened
this past weekend. I didn't even try checking them
out but I saw some buzz on the fb local pages with
people talking about playing both days of the week.
I personally think it's crazy, people loading up pods
with their hands and then shooting at other people
faces, or doubling up bunkers breathing athletically
and sweating all over each other. Call me paranoid
but I think I can wait a little longer to play, seriously

I don't think some fields in Virginia ever closed citing they were following social distancing measures. They were offering free entry, air and rentals as well.
