Inception has a brand new entry-level 14" Autococker threaded two-piece aluminum barrel: the Genesis.

You can buy it here:
https://www.inceptiondesigns.com/STE...p/sbg-9903.htm

The cool part is not only the very low price (it's the same price as just the Stella Slimline tip) but it is also fully compatible with full-price Stellas. The Genesis has the same internal finish as the full-priced Stella - so it should be just as accurate and straight porting so it should be relatively quiet.

So it sounds like it should be a great starter barrel, loaner barrel, EMEK upgrade - and someone can upgrade it a piece at a time as well.

These barrels are actually shipping now from Inception and some dealers already have them.

Here it is in Inception's own words:

UPGRADE BARREL
The best choice for your first barrel upgrade is future-proofed and compatible with ALL Stella Barrel components.

INCREASED ACCURACY & RANGE
Longer 8" back section gives the best combination of efficiency and consistency leading to greater accuracy and range.

INCREASED EFFICIENCY
Tighter back barrel bore and tighter front barrel bore gives greater velocity and allows the use of lower pressures for more shots from your tank.

QUIET
Small diameter porting makes the barrel quiet and stops rain and paint getting inside to keep accuracy even in the worst conditions.

GENTLE ON PAINT
Smoother chamfer and radius entry to the barrel helps prevent paint breakage.

TWO-PIECE SYSTEM
Allows upgrades with compatible parts so this barrel kit can grow with your paintball experience.

Downsides seem to be that it's only available in black, it has less logos, none of the external flats, none of the internal porting and its only available in one size.

Looks like it'd be pretty loud with so little porting.

Heck, I'm probably going to get one just to have a Stella front that doesn't have as much porting. Sometimes you want a not-super-ported barrel front. In a downpour. Or other such circumstances.

Great to see a high quality barrel not being charged for an arm/leg.

I'll never knock the Stella. But I am very particular about the looks of the barrel. It never resonated with me.

I like this. Simple.

Probably works better than sticking a plastic tube over your barrel in the rain.

Sure, but I think we've seen other 1 pieces going for much more (needlessly) in recent years.

I'm not seeing a bore size anywhere. There are no options to select one, and if this only comes in one size, I don't see where that size is stated.

It is on Inceptionís website and the first post. It does only come in one size but you can always use Stella parts if you need to add more.

8" control bore barrel back with a .686 bore.
.697 bored barrel front

At some point the back will come to the front and be replaced by another back but then the first back will go back to the back.

I wish it was a .684 back instead. Thatís pretty much the only back Iíve used in 2 years.

I think the goal was to make this a slightly more universal barrel. You can almost always use a barrel a bit too big, but you can't always use a barrel too small without breaking paint.

I encourage all new players to shell out money for a barrel kit rather than a single sub 50 dollar barrel. You really only need the 3 smallest bore sizes these days anyways.

Somewhat unrelated topic but I'm growing concerned at the decreasing size of paint. My tin foil hat conspiracy theorist inside me says the industry is pushing for smaller paint to slowly but surely faze out old guns.

Smaller paint is cheaper for them to make. While i have no idea what paint costs to make, I'm guessing $25 per case based on what it used to cost me when I had a decent paint deal. So if you do the math at .688 size paint you're looking at 5.58 liters of fill so $4.48/liter is what I'm guessing it would cost for fill. Let just say they move their target size down to .684 which is what I normally see when I play. That means you've got 5.49 liters of fill, not much of a difference in the mfg cost, less than a penny per case of paint. That doesn't seem like much but per skid thats about 45L less fill and saves the paint companies $201.60. How many skids of paint get made in a day? I have no idea but lets just for the fun of it say you're looking at 10 skids a day for production, now they just saved over $2000 in a day, With a year having about 250 working days in it they've saved $50400 in that year if they make 10 skids a day.

And if it isn't painfully obvious I'm having a slow day at work.

Paint is not $25 a case to make. I've bought it for that much in the past 2 years.
