The fact that people are so invested in a style of milling and "permission" to use it is so silly. In fact I would consider "ripper" or "twister" to be a generic reference to a style. But the same people are probably still crying about AKA having to stop making guns no one was buying.

It's really simple, Ripper is an established thing that Eaton created. Just call it something else.

I have a very strange reaction to this gun. Can't decide if I hate it or love it....

They totally need to do a custom voice pack with Mark's voice yelling ... Whoooo Letssss goooooooo when you turn on the gun. Just take the sound bite from that facebook video.

Glad to see custom cuts. Hope to see more from other companies. I LOVE my X!

It's even more simple. It looks awesome and I want it.

I do agree it's cheesy to rip off the ripper name without permission. From a legal standpoint though, if it's not trademarked or patented it can easily be stolen. Same goes for the bleed over Gamma Core discussion.

It kind of makes sense for HK to do a custom Luxe since Heat and Aftermath are big time HK teams that both shoot Luxes

Inception does have permission from Eaton to use the Ripper name and Eaton had input on Inception's Ripper milling.

I have never heard that HK has permission to use it or has even spoken to Eaton about it.

Do they have to? Either way Eaton can do nothing, if he legally owns the trademarks on the use of Ripper in the paintball industry, its on him to defend it and he certainly wouldn't beat HK in a dispute.

If he doesn't own any legal trademark then its on him for do nothing to protect his IP. I mean honestly, at the end of the day Ripper and Twister Milling typically follow very basic mill patterns used in many industries and they just did a ton of repetition of that pattern. Its not like Eaton is some revolutionary, he did an aesthetic design, people like it, and other people did it. Should we shame everyone that does Splash Anno or Acid Wash too without permission from the originator?

Wasn't Eaton the same guy who took like 1-2 year to return a small batch of cocker bodies he did and dissapeared with excuses why it took so long? Pretty much all I can remember about him is he charged almost nothing for his ripper machining, had to close up shop, and now pops up with *****y statements anytime BL or anyone else releases a Ripper. Does this dude forget that before Bob you could literally buy Ripper Cocker for like 300-400 dollars a decade ago because no one wanted them? I mean the guy charged like $160 bucks to ripper mill a gun.

Who cares, Paintball has literally went through a decade long dead zone of no cool PL markers, HK is bascially one of the only one willing to actually do legitimate PL markers with more than just fancy anno work and people *****. Would you rather go back "Private Label" markers that literally just have a certain anno on them and no other difference?

Edit, just checked and he abandoned the trademark sooo....

Looking on ANS, no one is calling this thing a ripper and I don't think it takes much time looking at it to realize it's not a ripper at all. Let's all relax. If they were to create a super slim milling are we going to suggest they stole FLE milling from Simon?

I do very much like the milling from a safety perspective. It's great that HK is reminding the player which way paintballs come out of the marker via this mill pattern.

We were stuck in an era where private label milling was a thing of the past. Teams were rocking custom graphic annos instead of truly unique milling.

Now we have the twisters, the Infamous CS2, GI Stealth, and HK milled RSX and LuxeX. Don't sleep on the upcoming Adrenaline XLS. The more private label choices the better and this one looks great to me. PL milling has more heart and personality and will maintain value for years to come.

uhh... the price of the sl66 is now around 700 cash

They're making 400 total. 150 black, 50 black and gold and 25 of each of the remaining color combos (white/teal, white/black, pewter/black, pewter/teal, purple/green etc)
