I'll be updating my garage thread as well, but I'm currently working on putting together a retro Alpine setup for my Porsche. Hunting down components at this stage, but I have something of a plan of what I want to do.

I'm fairly certain I got my wiring somewhat correct. The VAG group uses weird (to me) connections. Still not sure why one harness would connect in separate places like that, but I got the amp wire hooked to the amp wire...should be gtg. Have a misc blue wire I'm not sure what to do with, supposed to go above a yellow connector but I have no orientation to determine what above is.

Gonna plug it into the car and see what happens. I covered the connections with electrical tape until I know I've got it wired correctly. I'll solder the connections then.

Well really its a Lexus CT200h, still have my BMW. Needed to get sensible while driving stupid amounts of miles.

In regards to the headunit, my MDX had a different one for Bose. Some are not compatible. Which vehicle is this?

01 S4. Got the head unit in for the most part. Everything works except wifi is out of range, but I expected that.

My next challenge is finding a clean path to route wires for my sub. Stuff is crammed tightly, but when you get past the first layer its fairly open. I routed my GPS and wifi antennas surprisingly easily.

The sub is tricky though, can't find a spot in the firewall very easily. Might have to let a pro do this one. I want a new sub and speakers anyway. Also, I'm doing this in a **** load of snow. No garage until we get to our other place in New Mexico next month.

Also, any sub recommendations are welcome. It wont be anywhere near ya'lls setups. I just want some decent bass, but I don't want a huge enclosure and I don't want to spend a fortune. I listen to a lot of rock and occasional rap. I've currently got a 500w alpine mono amp laying around, not sure where I acquired it but it works. I can upgrade if need be.

Anyone know any cheap, decent replacement speakers for the 4" mids and tweeters in BMWs?

A shop blew my stock speakers sky high in my e82, I replaced the front speakers with the Focal components, but I'm not trying to drop that much on rear speakers too. Just need something cheap back there for some fill.

I got to sit in a world record holding truck from my local sound shop McCain Audio. That was a first, 80kw going to 5x 18" subs was impressive.

On that note, debating between an Audioque or Fi sub for my S4. I'm leaning more towards Fi with their Xv3 X10 and a kenwood 2000w amp. The amp is rated for 1000w RMS @ 2ohms, and the sub matches that. Would this be a good pairing? I've never used Fi but I've heard good things on the internet

I did some research, seems the sub has an EBP of 65. From what I understand (which is little), that leans more towards the sealed box side of the spectrum. I'm stuck trying to figure out what size box that sub needs so I can get it built.
