Made it out...
Wind was bad, and lots of ******* on the water.
Did what I could but managed nothing in the bay.
On my peddle in, I was fighting the current, so I was peddling hard.... Well, I ended up hitting something under the water, and bent one of my fin shafts..
So I had a 2 mile peddle back in, with fins that only kicked 1/2 way.

But I did take advantage of that and trolled a kastmaster with tube tail on my was in. Got a 18" striper.
Atleast I didn't get skunked, just a $$ trip If I can't straighten the shaft

Went out yesterday trying to catch some big muttons and grouper, but nothing was going down on the bottom. Did good on yellowtails though.

looks fine to me, then again i have no idea wtf i am looking at.

i saw a guy and his brother catch TWO flatheads fishing for small mouth yesterday under the dam i have fished my whole life. they got them on a jig with a white twist tail grub. one was 30in, roughly 15lb, the other about half that. considering that i have only seen one, tiny flathead caught there before this was pretty shocking.

i am also pretty sure i hooke into a mid sized one the other day. it broke me off before i got it in, it was definitely a cat fish, but the tail and color did not look like any channel cat i have ever seen. i would have assumed it was a channel cat but those flatheads have me wondering.

In the first pic, the fin on the right is bent to the left (it was over top the other one)
The 2nd pic, it's as bent, but still not straight. Works, but not 100‰

the little green patch on the one fin is cause i hit a rock and put a hole in it haha.

thats the only down side to the mirage drive... you need an extra 12" of water than a normal kayak. usually in the bay its fine, since im drifting over the sand bars, and usually arent riding along the marsh. but the wind yesterday forced me in.

I finally, for once, felt under sized in the kayak yesterday in the bay. i got hit with a series of rollers, mixed with wind chop that really made me think "Oh ****, im going over". thankfully i didnt.
And the jet ski is all registered, just waiting for my boater license next thursday, then i might think about selling the hobie

Fishing and fun all in one toy... Can't beat that. Fishing Sucks? Drop the rods off at home, and go jump some waves.

You guys have any reccomendations for a sit on top style kayak? I have been looking around and I'm willing to spend a decent amount (1k or so). I watched a few few videos of guys fishing on the Diablo Adios and I liked how stable it was. One guy was fishing with his golden retriever on the platform with him and it was decent. http://www.diablopaddlesports.com/store.boats

I'm gonna be using it mostly on lakes n such so I can go out alone and just sneak up to weedbeds and shallows

i'm not familiar with the diablos at all, but i gotta say, they look interesting. Not sure i like how its a paddle board/kayak hybrid, especially for fishing.

for around the $1k price point, i would suggest the jackson cuda 12.5
I usually suggest hobies since i love mine, but since you mentioned shallow water and weed beds, that wouldnt work well with the mirage drive.

I've got Ascend FS12T from bass pro. It's good for the price but wouldn't re commend it for die hard kayakers. Works great in ponds\ reservoirs but I haven't been able to take it out on the river yet.

Thanks for the advice everybody. Hopefully I'll be able to pick one up in the next few weeks. Gotta get everything tho so it'll add up quick.. kayak racks for trucks are way too expensive ha.
