3D printable paintball part thread

Hey guys,
Since the 3D printing community is growing, I've suggested making a sub-forum where you can go through and find paintball specific parts that can be printed with everything located in one place.

So here's the plan, this thread is to show interest. Find links to 3D printable paintball parts, or post some of your own. I'll be posting 2 or 3 things of my own parts and some others I've seen. Post what you have here and help the paintball community find neat parts and the printing community grow in selection!

If there seems to be a lot of interest in this stuff I will Stickie the thread to the top of the forum. Not sure if there will be enough for it's own sub forum though. I would suggest better organizing the different parts.

Advice accepted... Also, more links added. This is all I can find for now, but I imagine the community will grow as more people start fiddling with 3D printers. Seems like a lot of folks are trying to sell printed parts while they still have a market; a lot of really neat stuff though. Hopefully, they decide to release them and make them open source in the future.

Love the idea. I will try to help gather stuff when I am not as busy(next week). I am not able to create things, but if I happen to find things you do not have I will post them.

Thanks for keeping an eye out. I think if there is a place to post files, people may be more likely to add to the list when they find something or make something small for themselves.

also, Thanks for the sticky recognition.

Printing

If anyone does not have a 3d printer but would like one of these items printed i can do it for you. Here is a link to my 3d hubs account where you can just drop the files in there and it will give you a price. I have a high end printer so the quality will be there.

I used to work on a few 3D printers and the problem is that any of the printed parts cannot be apart of the gas delivery system. So the only uses would be cosmetic.

That is a bold statement to make about 3d printed parts. Keep in mind that 3d titanium printing exists. Care to explain?

I am just wondering if anyone has thought about or done the designing for a 3D printed Model 98 clamshell. I would love to see one.

Not quite. You are referring to material/fused deposition printing, the kind common for the growing home market. Admittedly, that is the group I was aiming for with this thread. However, There are plenty of printing methods which print parts with plenty of strength and density to work with air systems.

I thought about doing something like this. Both the 98 and A5 could be made to look entirely different as long as it kept the same shape for the bolt chamber and some other small misc. areas. The main thing to keep in mind is that this would likely require a higher-end printer (commercial) that doesn't use the more common FDM style printing method. It would require material strength, wear resistance and density to prevent air leaking. It could also be metal sintered or SLM printed, but this would increase costs significantly.

I am curious, however, if you can somehow seal a regular printed part to make it suitable. I've seen coatings that make them look chrome plated, maybe something like that.

All of the pressure is held in the valve and power tube. As long as the plastic is strong enough to mount the ASA to and keep the barrel in, it should be fine. I would love to do something like this just to have a lighter body, then eventually modify it for a smaller/shorter one with a shorter stroke on the ram so I can build an even smaller Ebolt project.

I would really love to have a milled M98 body that could be annodized.

Most definitely possible. The Gryphon is a 98 in a plastic body right?

GASP! You could make a A/C threaded 98.

I was actually thinking about that, or making a printed A5 body so you can just use a different barrel insert for whatever threads you want.

I'm a draftsman and paintball lover with access to a stratasys dimension elite printer and have printed an entire ego shell in the past out of ABS plastic. Held up for about a year but sun breaks down ABS slowly and costed issues with it. eventually it got to the point where it cracked the breach and from the small amount of air pressure when forcing a ball forward. it can be done with an marker but doesnt last. I will list the file if i can manage to find where i put it. i drew it up in rhino and outsourced for the print job because I didn't want to deal with waiting on it to print and then having give it an acid bath and hope to get rid of all the support material. only problem making shells is they are difficult to print unless you make half shells. the support material is a pain to get out of the breach and any other area that needs to be hollowed out. a better way of doing it would have been to 3d print a mold for the shell and then cast the plastic shell as a whole.

Neat, that would be a fantastic addition. I am curious though, could a coat of clear coat spray paint help with the UV degradation, or would the chemicals cause other problems. I clear coated one of my parts, and it seemed fine; but I haven't done any figures testing or put it through much exposure to the outdoors yet.
