Like what Dan? Will got a job working for canon and left all of his paintball customers hanging with no fix for their oled boards.
I realize technology has changed, but these should be free to customers who have bad screens. Not to suck more cash from their pockets.
Bad business from Tadao in my opinion.

My question still remains when there are customers that bought a product that fails to deliver? What else can will do aside from offer them free?
If thw board failed within a warranty period or close to i can see a repkacement. But if there are fixes few years out and customers already jumped ship... why ***** at all? Customer and businesses never want quid pro quo. They rather fancy the idea of something for nothing.
So i ask. What else can tadao do. Im curious to hear suggestions as people will foam at the mouth untill a proverbial BJ is offered in the breakroom of the establishment... and still a customer will still demand more.
I hate all customers. Ive worked retail and am glad i quit before my 9 lb ratch got too much blood on it.
I never buy boards for features other than software. I got that out of my led ebisu. If it fails im out and can only go to stock.

so incredibly happy this is being done. I will be getting upgrade parts for several boards and eagerly awaiting the service for the non-usb interface boards. I had always wondered if it would be possible to retrofit a LED module on the OLED setups and breathe life into them again...obviously it is possible :-)
Dan - thanks for giving me the heads up!
Tadao - thanks for being an awesome company!

While I've personally gone to Virtue for boards, I'm glad Will has done this.
And while I understand that they can't necessarily offer the fix for free for everyone, I think it would do the business with some much needed positive PR to provide it free for those that can provide proof that they are the original purchaser (invoice email, etc).

I can see that side of the argument. However...if it was a large company like Dye or Empire or Bob Long who was still making products actively in the industry I can see them being berated for not giving out a part fix for free...BUT seeing as Wil has more-or-less left the paintball world to pursue different job I think that him coming back...even a couple years later...to fix a problem with his product, that he didnt create in the first place, by putting his time and money into making a 'retrofit' part is a good thing. I'm sure that the thousands that were spent on making these replacement parts in materials and labor are all he is trying to make back...for a company that no longer is actively making products that is fine in my opinion...im sure he didnt do this saying to himself "excellent...I can totally squeeze more money out of these suckers"...
It gives life back to boards that would otherwise be useless. Now I dont know about you but I would rather spend a little money and have a working board again than throw $180 away. And to those that switched to Virtue in the meantime, thats fine too. Both companies made good products and if you want to recoup some $ buy the new LED module and sell your new Tadao LED board for what you paid for your virtue...I can almost guarantee someone will buy it.

How about some accountability to not put crap products on your board. Good job on coming thru for what you promised the entire industry but only doing it about 60% right and late at that. I can't tip my cap to tadao is all I can say

I think it's a great idea...yes it sucks that your expensive OLED board is now LED...but even that is in the eye of the beholder. OLED and LCD have there place and so does LED in my opinion...some guns are better suited for it...I hate shoehorned OLED grip combinations so you can have all the convinience of a screen on a gun never meant for one...
That stray thought aside I guess it coincides with my apparent approval of this fix. Like some have said if the board falls within warranty (and I'm sure even that had stipulations attached for replacement) then tadao would honor a replacement...free, free + shipping...I don't know...but outside of that warranty replacement one would have to pay for a new board anyways ($30 I believe)....Tadao's already stated outright that they are more or less finished but had plans to try and keep some sort of solutions for already established customers....well here is a solution to keep your board from being absolutely worthless. I don't see the problem either...
That's just me though, and I'm sure to be stomped and pissed all over for not jumping on the Tadao Lynch Mob.
Congrats to Tadao for doing something for the people that own their boards and still use them!

Look Will moved on from paintball. You can't get upset because he no longer wanted to be in the business .
This was a very nice thing to do , in order to help everyone out . I doubt this venture will help him get a yatch or anything . I really thing Will did this because he wanted to help players out. Seeing as he isn't that involved in paintball anymore , I'm happy he did this because he definitely didn't have to .

It's not like he intentionally bought a crappy component to use in his products. They failed over time due to the OEM's fault, not his, and now he can't get them anymore. It sucks, but it happens sometimes.
A similar thing happened to us when I was a tech for MacDev. The OLED screens in the RX/Clone would go dim/die (probably from the same OEM) and we did our best to replace them, but if you were out of your 1 year warranty you were SOL.

Oh I'm definitely not upset. I just have a little more knowledge of the behind the scenes "dirty laundry" if you will.
And I don't plan on sharing it here.
Mike, you are definitely the most interesting man in the world!!

That and that when the oligarchs get in control of banking, they will ruin the economy for everyone else, so that they can make even more more money than anyone can reasonably spend. Even when it means crashing the economy of the country they profess to love. So then small business, that have made their business model on a steady economy, can no longer support the services based on that model.
See, trickle down economy really means pissing on the little guy, even if the little guy happens to be most of the country.

Would anyone have the contact information for Tadao? I have a DM8 with a LED board that seems to be fried. I can't even shoot the gun and would like to correct this.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks!

What does this have to do with anything in this thread?

Some are saying that he should replace all the OLED boards - lifetime warranty. I'm suggesting that he probably would like too, and at the cost of the boards he may have felt a lifetime warranty would be possible (I don't know if that was promised) but, the country take a hard hit - because the banks and wall street makes unsustainable loans - and it changes the business of the everyday man in ways that are beyond his control.

Well at least it is an option to get some of the boards back up and running, it sucks that they have to be downgraded to LED, but it is better than just having to throw a $180 board away.
