Broken.

I’d recommend a Bob Long filtered Fill Nipple.

Yup broken, that’s impressive. I’ve never seen that.

Call James W in service at first strike/uts he can send you replacement check valve pin. It’s the smallest fill nipple around and I love them, I put them on all my regs.

Mine broke exactly at the same spot. Now I use a standard fill nipple from an old aluminum tank.

Hello, I see there are pressure kits that you can purchase for your tanks for an extra 10 dollars and I cant seem to find any info about them.
Are they needed to reach these pressures?
Do they take all the guess work out of changing pressures?

What output pressure do you want to have? these kits still come with some shims to be able to micro adjust within the kits range.

Hi i bought a first strike low pressure kit for my guerilla g3 4500 reg. My question is what shims do what? I see plenty of info on the fact that the shims can adjust pressure but cant find anything that says which color shims do what. I received the low pressure (grey) spring and 3 shims one silver, brass, and pewter. What pressure does the absence of these shims create?

use just the spring and then check the output with a tester. then adjust as needed. all reg's will vary slightly due to machining tolerances.

Black = .005 inches +20psi
Silver = .010 inches + 40psi
Gold = .015 inches + 60ps

As far as I know the tanks are the same, the only difference is that they changed the reg “bonnet” from brass to stainless. Ohh and the pro burst disks are nickel plated now, i think they did it so there’s no surface tarnishing anymore.

seat oring on Hero regulator?

I removed the piston and spring and looked down the bore of my Hero regulator. I can see the seat but I can also see a small piece of black oring pushing into the bore around the seat's edge. My piston's ball tip looks dented really bad after only one fill and that was to only 2500psi. I'm afraid that the seat oring is leaking into the regulator around the normal path of the center of the seat. The diagram in the manual shows the same part#(14) for the seat oring and the piston stem oring so I asume it's a 1x3. Would it help to put a ur90 oring on the seat like the piston stem? I have a regulator tester gauge and I'm currently adjusting the output pressure down to 500psi for my M3+. Thats when I noticed the seat oring extruded into the bore of the regulator. And if a ur90 oring won't fix this, is there a tolerance in the seat oring grove thats contributing to my problem? I have complete rebuild kits from ANS for my hero regulators and I've replaced the seat itself with the black 1x3 oring and it keeps happening. I can send the regulator in if needed. Besides I need a new gauge and I really like the mini one on these regs but there hard to find. My tank has a 5/2016 born on date if that gives you any idea of when the regulator was made.

Update:
I took the reg off the tank today and removed the seat from the reg.. The lip of the seat that holds the oring in its grove was broken off. I pulled another new seat from a new repair kit and tried to install it. The lip of the seat hits the bore of the reg and stops. If I put a wrench on the seat and try to tighten it I'll surly break the lip off of this seat as well. Im afraid the bore of the reg is off center with the tapped hole where the seat screws in.

so from what i understand, the fs hero2 tanks do not expire after 15 years, and actually are certified forever (as long as they are hydro-tested every 5). i have people questioning me every time i say they don't have an expiration date, and when i point to the fs website, they balk. so where can i point them to show the actual standards/codes?

you can look up/buy the iso certificatio 11119-x and read the whole explanation. they have a minimum service life of 15 years(as long as its not damaged), they can be extended out to 38 years.
