I've owned and used Dye I4's, VForce Grills, and Virtue VIO Contours over the course of the last three seasons. Each mask of those three has had distinct benefits as well as disadvantages.

Like most all of Virtue's products, the VIO Contour is designed extremely well. The VIO is certainly the most breathable mask I've ever used. It's also unaffected by echo'ing or any sort of hearing distortion that I've heard other masks suffer from. The lens change system was also reworked from the original line of VIOs and is fairly straightforward. I do find it a little hard to depress the buttons to release the strap, but overall it's a fairly simple lens change system. It's also a big plus that Virtue made nearly every component of the VIO replaceable or interchangeable. As such, you can make a pretty custom mask or just replace parts as they wear out over time.

As far as facial coverage goes, I found the VIO to have a slightly better profile than the I4's, but the two masks do share very similar profiles overall. The Grill has the VIO Contour beat as far as jawline coverage, but there is of course the option to go with the larger VIO model - the Extend (or swap out the Contour's "facemask" component for an Extend version). It's also worth mentioning that the VIO's visor (sold separately) is superior to the standard Grill visor, and Dye doesn't even sell a visor for the I4 as far as I know. The VIO also boasts a very expansive field of view - far superior compared to the Grill, and about equal to that of the I4.

The only real downfalls to the Virtue VIO Contours are the hefty pricepoint - starting at $135 MSRP, and the minimal jawline coverage. Although the latter can be resolved by stepping up to a VIO Extend or swapping the Contour's facemask out for an Extend version.

Pros: field of vision
Cons: price
Appearance: I love teh sleek design of this mask. I was torn with getting this or the Extend and decided with the countou. I have a larger head and should of gone with the extend, but the contour works just fine. PLenty of colors to pick from

Performance: The mask has a great field of vision. The field really opens up with how much the mask lets in. The mask sits very close to the face so others players seem to be able to hear you better because your sound travels farther out the mask vice bouncing around inside. Good breath-ability as well, I have not had it fog up yet.

Reliability: No issues to speak of. I have taken it apart to clean and put it back together again without incident. Stays on hte head well and nothing has broken.

Value: Although it is a more expensive mask, it is well worth it. Vio is always have a deal so if you can pick it up for cheap I would do so.

Pros: Visbility, breathability, snug fit
Cons: Lack of visor
In the past year, I rejoined the paintball world. First step was upgrading my old JT Flex 7 mask to a VIO contour (red and white).

Initially, the reason I bought the mask was due to its aggressive looks. Very nice design. Also I saw a review which talked about the minimal gap between the mask and your mouth (I checked my Flex 7 and realized the 'mouth piece' of the mask was a good 3-4 fingers away from my lips. This VIO contour was only about 1-1.5 fingers away. Very low profile.

I guess if I had to be critical, it is unfortunate this mask did not come with a visor. In addition, it is unfortunate that Virtue sells the visor for like $40 or something. But it is not that spare lenses are only $30.

The mask was a little difficult to disassemble (the tabs on the ear flaps). But really I think people were just complaining too much, or doing it wrong. If you just put "IN" on the straps while pushing down, I really had no issue. I did use the end of needle nose plyers to push down on the actual tab but it was by no means a struggle.

Anyway, good purchase. Can't believe I used to play with a non-quality mask

I was able to borrow this mask from my roommate. Mind you I have a little bit larger head, but it seem to work okay. It is a very sleek design and has incredible breathability. I did find my jaw was hitting the edge of the mask, but probably due to my larger head. I hear the "Extend" solves that issue. Price was ok compared to comparable masks.

Pros: Comfortable, Field of View, Ease of Disassembly
Cons: None that I can think of
Very comfortable mask, makes wearing for extended periods of time very easy. With its slim profile the contours fit closer to your face and don't give you the "bobble head" look that can happen with some other masks.

Lens is very easy to swap which is great for those that play both indoors and out (I use clear for indoors and mirrored smoke for outdoors). The whole mask disassembles easy for cleaning or customization.

Field of view is one of the best out there, they really don't obstruct your vision in any way.

They are a little spendy but cost in line with other top tier masks.
