Is it safe to use the B/S/T section?

We've had thousands of perfect trades between complete strangers here on the site. This is the largest B/S/T for paintball gear in the world. Remember, you are not conducting business with PbNation. You are doing a deal with a user who most likely doesn't have anything invested in their account.

Please be very cautious dealing with anyone on the site. If they have lots of positive feedback spread out over a long time, that should ease some of your fears. If they are an Annual Supporting Member (ASM) then that should also make you feel a little better about the deal. However, if you are nervous in any way about a deal, the other party is trying to rush you or it sounds too good to be true, just don't do it. It is probably not worth being scammed.

We recommend you use one of our mods as an independent third party. They can make sure neither side gets scammed.

If you are not going to go through a mod, we recommend both parties use B/S/T Trust. For only $1.35 you can have the peace of mind that the first and last name, address, and email address of the other party have all been recorded through paypal. You'll also be able to see if the other person is verified and if their address is confirmed. If they are not willing to spend $1.35 to make sure the trade goes well, why would you want to deal with them?

Before you do any deals on PbNation, we strongly recommend you read all of the B/S/T Tips.

The first rule of B/S/T - 1• Buy/Sell/Trade here on PbNation at your own risk. We assume no responsibility for any part of any transaction including feedback.

B/S/T Tips to read before you get scammed!

Here are some simple steps you should take when trading on Pbnation.

If the person you are dealing with does not answer all of your questions in a reasonable amount of time and in a polite manner, move on and don’t deal with them. If they are treating you poorly now, imagine what it will be like to deal with them if something goes wrong.

Buying stolen merchandise is a crime. At the very minimum you will have to forfeit what you purchased and the chance of receiving a refund is slim. If the person selling is acting shady, do not deal with them. You can lose out. Selling stolen merchandise is a much more serious crime (even if you did not steal the item).

The first rule for B/S/T is:
1• Buy/Sell/Trade here on PbNation at your own risk. We assume no responsibility for any part of any transaction. Never send money or product before a deal is agreed to by both sides and full contact information is exchanged and verified. Do not rely on PM's. If the other party is unwilling to share contact information, then don't deal with them.
That rule is there to protect you. Ignore it at your own risk.

Always get the other person's full name, address and at least one confirmed, working phone number before agreeing to send anything. Also record all the screen names you've talked to them on (examples - PBN, PBF, AOL, MSN, ICQ, ec.).

After you get name, address and phone number, use a source like http://411.com to do an address lookup to verify that they indeed live there.

If the person is under the age of 18, talk to their parents and make sure they understand what is going on and what is expected out of their child. Get a cell phone number, work number or email address where you can reach them outside of the home and make sure you can get through to them.

Pay for tracking, insurance and signature confirmation when you ship. Make sure the insurance would be enough to replace the item being sent if it is damaged or lost. Never, ever ship something without at least delivery confirmation. You run the risk of them claiming they never got it.

Pack everything securely to prevent damage, and make sure you tape the openings to prevent tampering.

If someone has what you think is questionable feedback, check out a few random people on the list and see if they have low post counts, very few feedback or a recent join date to when the feedback was left. These are all warning signs that the feedback may not be legitimate. Report sketchy feedback and a mod will look into it.

Check other forums and even google to see if the person is a known scammer.

Whenever possible, pay with PayPal, money order, or check. This will allow you to see who cashed the money.

Just because you have received a payment through paypal doesn’t mean they can’t claim the funds back. Make sure to save proof you sent the package and they signed for it for at least three months.

Since a user is capable of editing the thread after they have sold the item, quote the original for sale post with the item you are buying and rehosting the images so that even if they change the initial post, you always have a copy in their thread of what was for sale. This helps settle any argument later about what was and was not part of the deal.

Use the serial number to verify with the manufacturer that any marker you want to buy is not stolen. If it is stolen, turn over the seller’s information to the manufacturer and report the post immediately to PbNation.

If you have little or no feedback and are selling or trading a gun, don't expect people to send payment or merchandise first or even at the same time. If you feel like you can't trust someone, then don’t. If you feel the deal is too good to pass up, ask a mod or admin about 3rd party services. It's worth the extra money to make sure you don't get scammed.

Only trust feedback from the actual seller in their for sale thread. Verify the name is exactly the same and feel free to PM the user from their feedback thread to make sure it is the same person you are dealing with if they are using the old style feedback.

Do not accept funds over what is owed, especially if they want you to send the extra money with the equipment they are buying. This is a classic scam where the initial funds will prove to be fraudulent and you will owe for the full amount.

Photoshop is a wonderful tool, and often a devious one. Ask for specific pictures. This may seem obvious, but many times people see one pic and that is enough for them. Not only does this help prevent someone from taking the picture from another source, but it also helps to make sure everything is in a condition described.

Don't rush into things. Many times scammers will want you to rush into a deal or ship next-day air. Take time to get all their info and finalize a deal you are both happy with.

If your gun has a serial number, write it down. Take pictures of it. Also make note of every distinguishing mark you gun has. This only aids in the return of you gun if it is stolen.

Keep all your contact logs with the person. PbN PMs, AIM logs, and emails will help with any deals being disputed. Be careful though, as they can easily be faked.

Do not send cash. Ever. Most of the time, it will never make it to it's destination if you send cash in an envelope and then it is gone for good.

If you've been scammed and have proof, feel free to post it here in the Theft Report Forum but more importantly, contact the Police and try to get your gear back.

Check the stickies in the Theft Report Forum. There is good advice there as well as a list of people to avoid.

B/S/T Rules (Expanded with Examples)
These are the complete B/S/T Rules with examples.

We recommend you always check for new and old PbN feedback as well as the Theft Forum before considering any deal here.

1. Buy/Sell/Trade here on PbNation at your own risk. Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped.
PbNation assumes no responsibility for any part of any transaction here. Use common sense. Please take precautions if you ever send first. If a deal sounds too good to be true, if the other party is rushing you, or if the other member is new or has little feedback, use a 3rd party or just don't do the deal. Never send money or product before a deal is agreed to by both sides and full contact information is exchanged and verified. Do not rely on PM's, save all contact info. If the other party is unwilling to share contact information then don't deal with them. Make sure the final deal is posted in public and both sides have agreed to the deal in public.

Please read here for more B/S/T tips.

2. Post new threads in the proper forum.
The number one reason for post deletion: The item being Sold or Traded must be posted in its appropriate B/S/T forum. Please post the item you are trying to sell or trade away in the proper B/S/T forum and not anywhere else on the site. New or "only tested" items go here in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum. If you are trying to buy something, post in the WTB forum. If you are trying to trade your item for a specific item, you need to post your item in the correct forum, not in the forum listing the items you want.

Example: A marker that has never been to the field but has been shot in the backyard goes in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum. This applies to all equipment, not just markers.

Example: If you have a marker, air system 2 barrels you may post it all together in the Gearbag forum to sell them separate or in the correct marker forum if you are trying to sell them all together.

Example: If you have a mechanical ‘Cocker and wish to trade it for an Angel, you must post that thread in the mechanical forum. If you have a pump gun you wish to trade for an air system, put it in the Pump Forum.

Example: If you are selling paintball items that go with your marker (like a barrel, parts kit, ) then you can list it with the marker in the correct marker forum.

Example: If you have a pile of items to sell separately, make separate posts in each respective forum. You can sell a marker as a package with other parts for one price, but please post it in the appropriate marker forum. (ex. You can only have 3 air systems, 8 barrels, 3 guns and few miscellaneous parts all in one thread in the Gearbag forum or in the New forum if they all are new.)

Example: A marker that has been used at the field but looks new needs to have all warning labels removed and an accurate description of the amount of use it has seen when it is posted in the Used forums.

If an item is used but has recently been released or could look new for the picture, put an accurate description of how much use each used item has received when posting in any of the used forums. You especially need to describe items that could be new based on the picture. If you're unclear, you risk an infraction and/or the thread being closed or moved. Make threads very clear so users and mods can't be confused.

Here are some quick tips for using our used equipment section:
Never put items there that were only briefly used or "just tested."
Don't take pictures with the equipment in or with packaging.
Remove all factory stickers (like warning stickers).
Don't try to make the product appear new in any way in the pictures.
Don't say: LNIB, BNIB, NIB or anything with the word "new" in it.
Describe clearly and accurately how much use each product has seen.
Don't mention other new items you have for sale. They don't belong in the thread at all.

3. No eBay, auction links, raffles or links to other forums allowed.
You may not create threads just to link to other sites. Describe what you are selling here. If we wanted to buy something on eBay or Bubba Joe's paintball forum, we'd be there instead of here. You may not conduct auctions, contests or raffles on PbNation.

4. Post a title that accurately describes what you are selling.
Please don't post "look here," great stuff or even "Egos look here" (unless it is WTB). Post what you are offering for sale.

All threads need to have a title relating to object(s) in the thread. Relate the title to your gear, like "Impulse and other gear for sale.” Offending threads will be closed or deleted.

No profanity in thread titles. This applies to any variations on profanity. Stars, characters like @ and $, etc. Anything relating to profanity in your title and we'll edit or delete it as we feel necessary.

5. List the item(s) for sale clearly and post a reasonable price. Websites may not just link back to their site.
You may not create threads just to link to other sites. Describe what you are selling here. If you only are willing to trade, please post that in the title. Please don't offer items for sale to "test the waters." If you want to see if there is a demand for what you have, search for similar products. You MUST post a reasonable price for ALL FS ads and you should do the same for WTB ads. Please do not make WTB threads for new items. Please mark WTT ads clearly in the title.

If you have a legitimate website with a shopping cart, you may ask people to check out using it when making threads in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum. However, you may not simply make a thread linking to your website. You must list the specific items you are selling as well as the price. Links can not simply go to the home page of your site, they must go to the specific page where the user can purchase the item listed.

6. Product being sold must be in seller's possession. No pre-orders.
This means you have to have it where you live or work. It can't be at a friend's house, getting repaired or on the way to you. You may not sell pre-order or drop ship items here at all. You may never list items that your supplier has available for you to buy. You have to already have the item. This means you can no list an item for a friend unless you have the item in your possession and you are going to take full responsibility for the condition and the shipping of the item.

7. One thread per item sold (please read the sticky in the Gearbag and ASM forums for exceptions).
Do not list items multiple times. If your thread gets too cluttered and you want to make a new thread, ask a mod to close your old thread first. Posting multiple threads for the same item may result in all threads being closed. We do allow Annual Supporting Members to list items a second time in their private BST forum. We allow all members to list all of their paintball equipment a second time in the Gearbag forum. Please read the stickies in those forums for more

8. Only post new or "only tested" items in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum only. Please note that Gold Ups are required in that forum.
Threads in the New or Unused Equipment / Services Folding Pen forum can only be seen by the thread starter. Threads are automatically moved there once their Gold Ups have run out. Gold Ups are required in that forum for people to see your thread in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum.

You are permitted to sell or offer new items, services and unused equipment in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum only. If a product was simply taken out of the package for inspection or testing and not played with in a game, damaged or used enough to create visible wear, it is still considered new. Please be very clear in your descriptions. Avoiding the New or Unused Equipment forum will result in an infraction and/or the post being closed. Please read about signature limitations for New or Unused items here.

Advertised prices in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum must be at or above the manufacturer’s MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). Failure to adhere to this rule will result in the closing of your thread. Gold Ups will not be refunded.

Example: A marker that has never been to the field but has been shot in the backyard goes in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum. This applies to all equipment, not just markers.

Example: A barrel that has never been to the field but has been dropped and dented or visibly scratched can go in either the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum or the barrel forum. However, the damage needs to be properly described. This applies to all equipment, not just markers.

9. No counterfeit, illegal, prohibited or non-paintball items where the user must be 18+ to purchase.
No illegal items. This includes real firearms and drug paraphernalia of any kind. They are not to be sold on PbN. Underage users post here, this is not the place to do it.

PbNation does not allow the posting of any B/S/T threads containing counterfeit merchandise. If you post such a thread your account will be banned and the thread moved to the evidence archive. This includes copyrighted materials, patterns, and characters.

10. No selling online gaming accounts, virtual goods or currency.
They do not belong here. We used to allow them but we had too many problems where users complained they did not get what they paid for so we no longer allow their sale here.

Violating any of these rules risks an infraction, thread closing, thread deletion or even a ban. Gold Ups will not be refunded.

If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins section. Please read and follow the complete Terms of Service as well.

Please report posts that break the rules. If you can not follow all of the rules found here, please do not post in the B/S/T section of PbNation.

10. No selling online gaming accounts, virtual goods or currency.

They do not belong here. We used to allow them but we had too many problems where users complained they did not get what they paid for so we no longer allow their sale here. This includes selling modifications to people's online accounts like gold, weapons, 10th Prestige or any virtual goods within the game.

Another member didn't follow my rules, what can I do?

Nothing. The only rules that matter are the PbNation rules. If another member breaks one of PbNation's rules, please hit the "report this post" link at the top of the post and a moderator will check it out.

Do I have to follow another user's rules posted in their B/S/T thread?

No, you don't. You do have to follow the PbNation B/S/T rules though.

User's rules posted in the thread don't mean anything and aren't enforceable. The rules that matter can be found here: PbNation B/S/T Rules. It is good etiquette to read over another user's rules before posting in their thread because you might choose not to deal with them if they have too many made up rules or rules you just find silly. You are obviously not under any obligation to follow any of these made up rules.

I've been scammed! What do I do?

We're sorry someone took advantage of you. You should defiantly read the threads stickied in the Theft Forum. There's some good advice in there and different advice on what to do now. Unfortunately, there's not a lot we can do here. We have no way of knowing what actually transpired with the deal and we don't have the resources here to mediate Buy/Sell/Trade deals, even if they were made on our website. We just don't know what was promised, what was delivered or if either party is telling us the whole truth.

You should leave them negative feedback so other users are aware they don't live up to their side of the bargain. Sometimes the feedback will help them know you are serious about the problem as well.

In the future, we strongly recommend you use one of our mods to act as a third party. It might cost a little more, but that way you know you'll get what you were supposed to get.

Before you do another deal on PbNation, we also recommend you read the B/S/T Tips. They might not have saved you this time, but there is a lot of valuable information in there.

Buy/Sell/Trade Rule # 1 - Buy/Sell/Trade here on PbNation at your own risk. We assume no responsibility for any part of any transaction. Never send money or product before a deal is agreed to by both sides and full contact information is exchanged and verified. Do not rely on PM's. If the other party is unwilling to share contact information, then don't deal with them. Please read here for more .

Gold Ups

Purchasing Gold Ups will stick your thread to the top of the forum for 4 days. This is the single best way to get your thread noticed by more people. It is a proven fact that a Gold Upped item will sell faster simply because more people will see it. To buy Gold Ups, just click on the Gold Ups button at the top of your B/S/T thread.

Gold Ups are required to sell new items on PbNation. You must list new items in the New or Used Equipment / Services Forum.

When you buy an Annual Supporting Membership you get two free Gold Ups with it. You can use these Gold Ups in any B/S/T section. Unused Gold Ups do roll over to the next year if you renew your membership, but they go away if you do not, so please use them before your ASM expires if you don't intend to renew.

You may buy Gold Ups for another user's thread and an ASM can sell their Gold Ups to another member. Since there is no way to transfer them, the ASM has to Gold Up the purchasers thread.

Where can I make a B/S/T post?

Please use the proper B/S/T forum for all B/S/T related posts. Do not make any B/S/T related posts elsewhere on the site.

Feel free to PM other interested members about your B/S/T item, but remember, sending unsolicited PMs is very much against the rules. If you are PMing another user in an attempt to sell something, please make sure that you have the item already listed in the B/S/T section.

Please do not post "PM me" or any references to your signature anywhere except in the B/S/T forum.

BST Trust Program
Want to sign up for BST Trust? Sign up here.

Let potential buyers know you are trustworthy by signing up for the BST Trust program.

Establishing trust online can be difficult, especially when deciding how to pay for and ship valuable equipment. This program makes it even easier to identify yourself as a trusted Buyer, Seller or Trader online as well as spot other trusted members.

The BST Trust system works by checking your PayPal account when you subscribe and making sure you are a Verified PayPal Member with a Confirmed Address. This is effective because the new system confirms your address and status using the PayPal system and then stores this data for possible future use if there is an issue with a transaction on PbNation.

The BST Trust system enables a small user badge underneath your username. As long as you are subscribed to the service, you’ll be recognized as BST Trusted member in every post you make on PbNation.

The system also adds a header across the top of all threads you create on PbNation showing you are a trusted member and even adds a small Trusted image next to any BST thread title in the forum view. Any thread you create on the site will advertise that you are a trusted member here.

As an added bonus for signing up for the BST Trust system, we also developed EZ Bump, a new tool to help you bump multiple B/S/T threads faster all from your Subscription Folder. EZ Bump allows you to bump multiple BST threads at once without having to go to each individual thread.

This program is only available to users who are both Confirmed and Verified through Paypal. Click here to find out how to become Confirmed and verified in PayPal or to access the BST Trusted FAQ.

This subscription is recurring. This means that after your subscription period has ended, it will automatically be renewed. You can cancel the subscription at any time by locating it in your paypal history.

BST Trust can be purchased for $9.49 and lasts for 3 full months. Annual Supporting Members can subscribe for only $7.49. During that time every post you make will display the badge, every thread you make will have the new header banner at the top and every b/s/t thread will have the small icon next to it showing you are trusted.

BST Trust - FAQ

How does it work? B/S/T Trust works by checking with Paypal to make sure a user is both verified and has a Confirmed Address. Once it establishes both of those, it adds a badge to all posts, header to new b/s/t threads and a image beside threads so people can easily identify trusted people and the threads they start.

What do you get? You get three elements: A Badge that shows up every time you post for 3 months. This lets people know you are a member anytime they see one of your posts. You get a header banner on all new B/S/T threads you create for 3 months. This reminds potential buyers viewing your thread that you are a member. You get the trusted shield image by all new B/S/T threads you create for three months. This encourages people to read your thread when scanning any of the B/S/T forums.

Do I need Paypal? Yes. B/S/T checks your paypal account and checks to make sure you are both verified and your address is confirmed. Users who are not both verified and confirmed can not sign up for the program.

I paid but my badge didn't show up. That means you were either not confirmed or verified before you paid. We will refund you but it may take some time since it is not automatic. In the meantime, please verify your account and confirm your address to be eligible for the Trust program.

What happens if I am not verified on Paypal or don't have a Confirmed Address? Then you are not eligible for B/S/T Trust. You have to be a Verified Member with a Confirmed Address to qualify.

How do I become Verified? To become Verified, you must: 1. Confirm your email address. 2. Add a credit or debit card to your account. 3. Link and confirm your card. To become Verified, log in to your PayPal account, click the Unverified link, and follow the instructions.

What is a confirmed address? It means that the buyer's credit card billing and shipping address are the same, or that PayPal has examined the buyer's PayPal account history and confirmed the address. Paypal confirms addresses to help: Guard against stolen credit cards. Prevent identity theft. Decrease chances of receiving a fraud-related chargeback.

How do I confirm an address? There are three ways to confirm an address: 1. Add a credit card to your PayPal account. If your billing address is verified, your street address is automatically confirmed. 2. Apply and be approved for a PayPal Plus Credit Card, PayPal Buyer Credit, or an eBay MasterCard. If approved, the address on your application will be a 3. confirmed address. Alternate address confirmation. This process is available only for U.S. accounts, and it can take several days. To learn more, log in to your PayPal account and visit Alternate Address Confirmation. Once an address is confirmed, the address status displays as Confirmed on payment receipts and the Transaction Details page.

Why doesn't the badge last forever? Quite simply, people don't live in the same place forever. Since the B/S/T Trust is based off your physical location, we had to set a reasonable time frame.

I am BST Trusted but my threads don't have the header at the top.The header banner only shows up in new threads you create while trusted. It won't show for older threads.

Are the old B/S/T Trusts still available? No. We are unable to have both systems running at the same time so we had to discontinue the older system that was no longer being utilized.

Do old B/S/T Trusts work with the new system? Unfortunately not. We stopped advertising those as part of the ASM program some time ago when we realized people were not using them. Since people weren't even using the free ones, we scrapped the whole program and started over on this new system.

What happened to my old B/S/T Trusts? We stopped offering those as part of the ASM program some time ago. However, we kept issuing them in the hopes people would use them while we worked on developing the new program. Since there was such a low demand, they have been discontinued now that we have launched the new, better program. Existing threads with the old style of trust will keep those until 8/11/09

BST Trust can be purchased for $9.49 and lasts for 3 full months. Annual Supporting Members can subscribe for only $7.49. During that time every post you make will display the badge, every thread you make will have the new header banner at the top and every thread will have the small icon next to it showing you are trusted.

How do I get my B/S/T thread noticed without getting in trouble?

Start by making sure your thread is in the correct forum. All new or "only tested" items go in the New or Unused Equipment/ Services forum. No exceptions. They still go there even if they are not paintball related.

Buy Gold Ups. Gold ups will stick your thread to the top of the forum for 4 days. This is the single best way to get your thread noticed by more people. It is a proven fact that a Gold Upped item will sell faster simply because more people will see it. To buy Gold Ups, just click on the Gold Ups button at the top of your B/S/T thread.

Add a link to the item to your signature and describe what you are selling. People won't click if they don't know what it is. This way every post you make is like a mini advertisement. (Make sure you never make posts outside of B/S/T telling people to check your sig - that's spam and not allowed.)

Buy B/S/T Trust. Potential buyers will see that you have taken the time (and the $1.35 expense) to register your full name and address. B/S/T Trust is even more effective when you verify your paypal account and confirm your address.

Make sure you title the thread accurately. If you are vague, you might get more people to click on it, but you won't attract potential buyers faster.

Never:
Post your thread more than once.
Post links to your thread outside of B/S/T.
Post outside of B/S/T telling people to check your sig.

What is a 3rd party trade?

This is a common deal where neither party feels comfortable shipping first or at the same time. Both parties ship to a prearranged middle man, usually a mod or a reputable store who charges a small fee to open the box and make sure it is what was described.

3rd party trades generally do cost a little more because you have to pay for someone to at least check the merchandise out. You also have to pay for shipping twice because you have to ship to the 3rd party and then you have to pay for the 3rd party to ship to the new owner.

Make sure you discuss with the person handling the 3rd party trade exactly what they will inspect before anyone ships. Some will inspect more than others, but they may also charge more.

If you'd like to use any of these mods as a third party trader, please contact them directly through PMs or other method of contact listed in their user profile. Their services are not free but they will make sure you don't get ripped off.

Can I sell NIB or New items on PbNation?

Please read our complete B/S/T Rules before selling anything on PbNation. If you don't understand and agree with these rules, please don't buy, sell or trade here.

Yes, you can sell new items here on PbNation but only in the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum. You must follow our rules for doing so. Please be clear in your descriptions. Avoiding the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum will result in an infraction and/or the post being closed. Please note that Gold Ups are required in the New forum.

PbNation defines any item that was simply taken out of the package for inspection or testing and not played with in a game, damaged or used enough to create visible wear, as still New. No other definition matters.

No pre-orders or drop ship items may be sold on PbNation. The item must be in your possession to list it for sale here.

New items may only be listed in the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum. Advertised prices in the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum must be at or above the manufacturer’s MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). You must post a price. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in the closing of your thread. Gold Ups will not be refunded.

Please do not sell new or only tested items through PMs unless you have an active thread in the new forum for those items.

You may only post links to your New items in response to WTB threads specifically asking for that item. If you do not have a New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum thread, then you may not post in WTB threads even to tell the user to PM you.

Please also see our signature rules and PM and Email spam rules for New items. Please also take a minute and read our complete Buy/Sell/Trade Rules.

Why do you have a separate forum for New items?
PbNation hosts the largest used paintball B/S/T in the world and it is free to use. We used to allow people to post new items for sale there too. However, stores and people who could get gear for cheaper than retail started posting items for sale sometimes below what a normal store would pay for the same item. Now you might think this was good for the guys who got really good deals, but this was causing some stores to literally go out of business. With no local stores, who is going to talk people into going and playing paintball for the first time? Or talk to parents who are concerned about their kid playing? We felt we needed to protect stores so we made a New or Unused Equipment / Services and insist that new items are listed for sale in there are priced at MAP so stores can still make a profit.

The next problem we ran into is some users started selling new gear and trying to pass it off in the used equipment forums (we'll call them profiteers). They're the ones who screwed everything up for the average user who wanted to sell something he'd bought for himself. These profiteers hurt stores by lowering the perceived value of near gear and have gone to great lengths to avoid paying for their use of PbNation as an advertising vehicle. Their dishonesty and never-ending efforts to exploit the system are the reason why we have to be so rigid in how we handle the sale of new and un-used items.

It's not something we enjoy doing, and it takes a lot of our time and resources, but it's something we have to do. This is the best solution we've found that helps us protect our advertisers and provide our general users with the hundreds of free forums and services we currently offer.

Can I sell new items by PMing people?

You must have an active thread in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum to sell new items on PbNation.

Do not "bait and switch" by listing used items in the used forums and then trying to sell a similar new product instead through PMs.

Do not spam users with PMs offering new or used products. Any sort of unsolicited PM can be considered spam. This is an easy way to lose your account.

Can I list new or only tested items in my Signature?
You can only list new items in your signature if you have an active BST thread in the New or Unused Equipment / Services. The signature must link to the thread. You may not ask people to PM you about new items in your signature. You must link to your thread.

How does another user Gold Up my thread that is already in the Holding Pen?

This applies to the New in Box forum where the thread is already in the holding pen. If you started the thread, you can still access it and Gold Up it. This will automatically move it to the New or Unused Equipment, Items and Services forum. If another user is going to use their Gold Ups on your thread in the Holding Pen, you'll need to send them the specific link.

First, create the thread in the appropriate forum. Then click on the Gold Ups button at the top of the thread. The link in your browser will look similar to this, https://www.pbnation.com/up.php?t=3705397.

Copy and Paste that URL into a Private Message and send to the user whom is trying to Gold Up your thread. This will allow them to Gold Up your thread even though they can't see the specific thread.

Can I list my B/S/T items in my signature (sig)?

Of course. Links to your own PbNation B/S/T items are allowed and encouraged.

Selling new items in your sig, or requesting that users PM you for prices on new items you are selling is prohibited. Links to new items you have listed in the New or Unused Equipment / Services section are allowed.

Links to your own old style Feedback is encouraged. Never link to banned feedback. Do not link to Feedback for any other account from your signature, even if it is your own account with a different user name. Please read the Feedback Rules here.

Why are B/S/T threads out of order? What does the bump button do?

Posts in the Buy Sell Trade (B/S/T) section are shown in order of the last time the thread starter "bumped" their thread. Posting in a thread in the B/S/T forum does not take that thread to the top. Instead the thread starter is allowed to "bump" the thread by clicking on the bump button once every 4 hours. We instituted this feature to make the B/S/T section more fair so people couldn't continually post in their own thread to take it to the top and therefor get more exposure.

A green bump button means it is ready to be hit.

A gray bump button means it has been hit within 4 hours and isn't ready to be clicked.

This way you are also seeing the most current active threads because the thread starter is the only one who can bump it up to the top. Dead threads where the item has been sold can't come to the top just because someone has posted in it.

Your B/S/T threads now have a countdown timer that shows you how long until the thread can be "bumped" again.

For every 20 posts you make on the site during the day, the system will automatically take a full hour off your bump time. That means if you post 80 times during a day, you'll have the ability to bump all of your B/S/T threads as often as you want for the rest of the day.

Is lowballing or offering a really low price against the rules?
We respect that everyone is out for the best deal possible. However, people are also trying to sell their items for as much as possible so posting a ridiculously low price in their thread could certainly be considered trolling. If you post a really low price hoping on the off chance they are desperate enough to take it, then the next person viewing the thread might think that's a reasonable price. You have to remember, most people take pride in their gear and think it is worth a lot. Posting a low price could easily be seen as an insult.

If you want to make a serious offer that you think could be considered a lowball, please PM or email the user with it. That way you aren't posting the low price in their thread.

Why doesn't PbNation allow pre-orders? (preorders)

We do not allow pre-orders on PbNation. We had to ban pre-orders due to companies not delivering what was promised on time. Sometimes companies or individuals didn't deliver at all due to unforeseen complications (not enough orders, manufacturing issues or higher costs than expected). In an attempt to protect our users, we don't allow pre-orders here anymore at all.

Pre-orders are almost always commercial spam which is also against the rules. Too often items being pre-sold haven't even been made yet so we do not allow them to be sold here. Our B/S/T rules are very clear - you must have the item in hand to sell it on the site and you may not make B/S/T posts outside of the B/S/T section.

PbNation will occasionally conduct a pre-order for a partner of the site like for a Monkey With a Gun DVD. These are rare instances when we actually collect the money and we guarantee that people will receive what they paid for or get their money back. This is the only way pre-orders are allowed.

Can I sell stickers in the Misc forum or do they need to be sold as New?
We have no issue with you selling stickers from paintball manufacturers in the Miscellaneous Paintball Equipment forum or even including new stickers when selling products outside of the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum. You can include them in gearbag sales, include them with markers or sell them by themselves in the Miscellaneous Paintball Equipment forum. Please remember, sticker sales usually do not qualify for feedback. Custom stickers or die cut stickers do need to be sold in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum.

Are true pawn shops allowed on PbNation?

No.

Users are allowed to make WTB threads in the WTB forum for lots of items at inexpensive prices. Those are not true pawn shops. A true pawn shop doesn't just buy goods, they loan money with the goods as collateral. Loans like that may well violate state laws. Furthermore, real pawn shops also attract people selling stolen goods and we have no interest in supporting that type of activity.

What am I not allowed to sell on PbNation?

Please do not list or ask to buy anything that is illegal or anything that requires a minimum age to buy like porn, firearms, liquor, tobacco products or fireworks. No drug or smoking paraphernalia. You may not sell or ask to buy school work. No stolen items. Even if you weren't the one to steal it, do not list it. This includes pirated software, movies music or paintball equipment.

You may sell new items here on PbNation but only in the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum. Even if they are not paintball items, new items must go in that section. Please be clear in your descriptions. Avoiding the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum will result in an infraction and/or the post being closed. Please note that Gold Ups are required in the New forum.

Issue with a Gold Up payment.

If you paid for Gold Ups and they didn't show, most likely you paid with an echeck. They won't become active until the echeck clears. You can check your paypal account to see when that will be.

If your payment has cleared but not taken effect on the site or you are having another problem with a Gold Up or News Up payment, please contact Customer Service. Please keep the message short and to the point. Make sure you include the problem as well as the your paypal email address and the transaction ID from paypal.

Why was my thread moved to the New or Unused Equipment / Services Forum or the Holding Pen?

Most likely your thread is selling at least one new item so it has to go in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum or Holding Pen. We allow users to sell their personal used gear on here for free, but you have to pay for Gold Ups to sell new gear.

Please note, no other users can see your thread if it is in the Holding Pen. You have to pay for Gold Ups to sell new items on PbNation.

Here's the rule that spells it out:

13. You are permitted to sell or offer new items, services and unused equipment in the New or Unused Equipment / Services forum only. Please note that Gold Ups are required in that forum.

If you don't have any new items in your post, then your post was misleading. Please be more clear when you repost. If you're unclear, you risk an infraction and/or the thread being closed or moved. The real answer here is just to make future threads very clear so users and mods can't be confused about what is new and what is used.

Here are some quick tips for using our used equipment section:

  • Don't take pictures with the equipment in or with packaging.
  • Remove all factory stickers (like warning stickers).
  • Don't try to make the product appear new in any way in the pictures.
  • Don't say: LNIB, BNIB, NIB or anything with the word "new" in it.
  • Describe clearly and accurately how much use each product has seen.

Can I sell or trade items I don't have?
No. All items must be in hand to sell, trade or even list them on PbNation. That means you can not offer your friend's (or anyone else's) gear or merchandise for sale or trade unless you have it in your possession.

In the past we've had issues with people receiving an item with the intention of turning it around and trading it for another to send back to the original owner. These types of deals often fall apart so they simply are not allowed here.

Tips for posting an item for sale or trade on PbN.

Here's some general advice for using our B/S/T section. Please read our full list of tips on how not to get scammed.

Most people will want to trade equipment rather than buy yours. If they do want to buy, they'll probably try to negotiate. Expect this and list trades you are interested in and price your items accordingly. You will also have to work out who pays for shipping as well as who ships first.

Answer your PM's in a timely manner. PM the people who ask to be contacted. It may be time consuming, but his is just good business.

Clear communication is key. Answer every post politely in your thread so other people can see that you are a reasonable person to work with and what you are interested in.

Describe your product clearly (including how much use it has seen and specific wear).

Host and post pictures! Most users won't even consider buying without pics.

Here are some quick tips for using our used equipment section:
Don't take pictures with the equipment in or with packaging.
Remove all factory stickers (like warning stickers).
Don't try to make the product appear new in any way in the pictures.
Don't say: LNIB, BNIB, NIB or anything with the word or abbreviation for "new" in it.
Describe clearly and accurately how much use each product has seen.

If the person you are dealing with does not answer all of your questions in a reasonable amount of time and in a polite manner, move on and don’t deal with them. If they are treating you poorly now, imagine what it will be like to deal with them if something goes wrong.

Always get the other person's full name, address and at least one confirmed, working phone number before agreeing to send anything. Also record all the screen names you've talked to them on (examples - PBN, PBF, AOL, MSN, ICQ, ec.).
