I was the one who had asked the mods/admins to start this topic and have also gotten a chance to test the gun at my local shop who is 1 of 2 east coast dealers ( www.paintballny.com ) so here's what I think...

It's size is ideal for a front player.

It only has two moving parts and it is nearly impossible to chop a ball because the pressure used to open the trap door is 3 psi and it takes 6 psi to chop a ball.

It is the same speed as a shocker (9 bps).

Is compatible with CO2, Compressed, and Nitrogen and works equally as well with any of them so there is no need to waste any money for a nitro tank.

Its trigger is extremely smoooooth.

So all around it is a great gun.

You might also add that an Epic can tend to be a bit of an "air-guzzler." This is what I have read from people who actually own Epics.

I am assuming this could come from the Epic not using a bolt and since air is the only thing that propels the ball, it needs that extra burst to do so seeing as it is not getting any help from that of a bolt like that of other markers.

So, basically you are sacrificing a little more air for no ball breaks which to some might be a viable sacrifice, but you'll have to be the judge of that.

As to how much more air it actually does use up, that I can't answer. People have compared the Epic to that of a Shocker, a gun which also has been stated by many to be a little heavy on air usage.

i think you mean LB, not PSI. psi means nothing unless you know the area its pushing on.

Most all shockers are capped at 11.25bps.

the bolt has nothing to do with actually propelling the ball out. sure, some might give it a push, but this is nothing compaired to propelling air. afterall, cockers dont move the bolt forward when they fire... the Epic is inefficent probably due to the design of the spool valve. alsmost all spool driven markers are not very good on gas (mayhem, shocker, epic, matrix..).

I have exchanged emails with ICE in the past, back whe they were still in the prototypes. Im pretty sure If I remember correctly it dose not use a spool valve..
Ill have to check but I think it incorporates a poppet valve somehow... very compact though...
I wonder if opening up the "7 hole" face would increase the efficiency if it really is that bad... a down side may be barrel breaks, but you never know.

I had thought at one time, either read or heard, that they use a spool.. dont remember who/where it was tho so i might have been mistaken.

I have ths funny feeling the Epic shoots/performs about like the Mayhem. i base this on abolutly nothing.
