Leaky trilogy...

I picked up a trilogy yesterday that the guy said had only been used 3-4 times & actually looked brand new. My tank had maybe 200psi. When I first aired it up it held air & wasn't leaking. After dry firing a couple of times it was still fine. However when started rapid firing, it started to leak from the front of the 3 way & around the grip frame. What should I be looking for? I've owned cockers in the past but never learned to work on them because I never had any problems.

200 PSI from the tank is way too low for a WGP reg to reset properly (they usually output 250-350 PSI) and way WAY too low for a trilogy sport not to starve for air (they operate at about 600+ PSI).

It may have had more but not much. The gauge was just about at 0. So the low psi just wouldn't let it seal properly which caused it to leak?

During rapid fire, the LPR will use up some of the pressure and the valve will vent most of it from the valve chamber; if the HPR can't keep up, you'll get shootdown and if the pressure goes low enough, the valve will loose its seal and leak.

The same happens with the unregulated trilogy sport, except there's no HPR in between the tank and valve chamber, so the valve is tuned to use a higher pressure.

If the LPR starves, it won't cock the hammer back far enough to engage the sear and it will rest on the valve pin, opening the valve against the negligible pressure in the valve chamber.

So... basically, yes; fill your tank to over 600 PSI and it should seal again, even during rapid fire.

also, pick up a reg and some gun oil (paintball only. I use gold cup) and drop 2-3 in your asa, this should keep you shooting for awhile.
