Dye Reflex Cocker

So I recently purchased a dye reflex autococker from a coworker. It currently has some upgrade parts that I am wanting to do away with. He says he thinks that he still has the original parts that came on it. I was wondering how hard it is to fix up the original parts and get in good working order again. I am going with a CP reg on it. Is there any advice on how to do the work and place to get any parts?

It's got a race frame on it.

To make it original you'd have to find a Dye Hinge frame, the original Dye feedneck, and three way, as well as a timing rod. The original regs are pretty hard to find, and that drop sure is an era in itself.

Good news is that's the stock ram and LPR. None of the pneumatics were all that great. You could put some better stuff on it and have a real nice shooter.

Well the guy I got it from is pretty sure he still has the original frame and all but it is too hot in south east Louisiana to go into an attack. I already have. CP reg and I am thinking about using a red dye airport on it for the Asa.

If it were me, I'd sell the Race items and replace the missing elements with the best quality pneumatics I could afford.

If you haven't already, look up some of the 'cocker user groups on facebook. You'll find all sorts of used parts and you'll have that DYE up and going in no time.

100% ^

Try to piece together the rest of the stock pieces but once you get some spare change dump those pneumatics. DYE did a lot of things right with their cockers but their pneumatics wasn't one of them.

Ok. Since it is looking like I won't get to go to Cup this year, I may make rebuilding it my Christmas gift to myself. At some point I also want to get different anodizing done. I want to get a complete UL barrel kit with both length tips custom anodized.

I went that same route but ended up buying a .694 dye UL and got it bored for freak inserts. Much cheaper in the long run rather then buying .680 through .694

This is true, but i will be acquiring the barrel backs in time. I have a friend who owns a shop and gets great stuff on trades all the time., so I will pick the stuff up as I go.

Sorry to thread jack but this will probably be relevant to you if you're also restoring a reflex.

Will a cut beavertail fit with the hinge frame?
