Del Hobbies (DHP) Overview Of GPL #1

We would like to thank Brian and Cindy for a great weekend of paintball. The staff worked their butts off to keep things rolling as smooth as they could. Reffing was very good under the control of Tony Savage. While problems have been reported concerning the paint, We are confident that the GPL has the wheels in motion to remedy this situation.
Some teams were complaining about having to play in the dark, but many times during the day I could here the announcers calling teams to the fields more than once as they were holding up the games. Players need to understand that in the NPPL format, all teams play in and out of their divisions in the prelims. Also, players know if their guns are legal or not. Please don't blame the refs if you are caught with an illegal marker. Fix it before you get to the event. DHP is committed to this series and we will do whatever it takes to keep improving on the facility to provide the players with the best conditions possible. We are already working on improvements for the next event. The grass that was seeded before the tournament is beginning to show a nice shade of green. Chrono areas will be improved and a new shooting range with chrono will be added. Any constructive criticism will be taken seriously by DHP and the GPL, and we will make every effort to satisfy your requests.
Good Job GPL as we get ready for the next event.

Yes, Grass sounds awesome, but our team had know problem with the playing conditions. IMO the fields were great, and the reffing.... wow, one hell of a job. Sick tournament series, keep it up.

BTW.... Great food to

we weren't there, is one problem

we'll be at the next event hopefully. please make teams forfeit if they are not ready for their game. we have a long drive ahead of us and can't afford getting back so late if we are to play in the dark as you said.

they will not make teams forfeit if they are not prompt and ready even though teams should be, however they will if they have to be called numerous times. as for you drive and how you are concerned ur driving 6 hours out of ur way most gpls dont get done until 7-8 i would suggest gettin a room the night before and day after.

we are making some changes to the format which will insure that we finish on time. We will be making teams forfeit if they do not show up on time. We hate to do this, but some of the teams have taken advantage of the fact that we gave them several chances to get to the field. With a minimum of 40 minutes between game along with the teams staging right next to the fields and having air fills at the fields leaves the teams no excuses for being late.

well u cant expect to be able to get home early when u have a 6 hr ride ahead of you. yes i see where your coming from teams do infact need to be ready but this isnt a perfect world. when we play a tourny if we have a long ride ahead of us we get a hotel and dont plan on goin to work/school the following day. in all the gpls i have played in prelims have never got finished before 4-5 and if u make finals ur goin to be there longer no with a 6 hr drive your not goin to get home till late. there for this is the reason i said get a room becuase after ur done u can go back to the room relax and then the following day leave early and not be hassled abotu the drive home.

all i heard was blah blah blah...we'll be there, we'll be getting that trophy especially if bill from PTI is playing snake for us. hopefully event 2 will run smoother and get everyone out at a reasonable hour. we take time off school and work for NPPL series and still make it home from east coast tourneys on sunday earlier than i hear people did from event 1 at gpl. who wants to play in the pitch black?

The first event was well run and well reffed. I would say though that the schedule needs to be strictly adhered to. Call the teams to the field twice, then DQ them. In at least one instance a team was called 5 times.

I GUARANTEE that if a team gets a DQ they'll LISTEN for their name next time. That will cut down 90% of the problems right there.

I would also say that after many of the games there was a lot of milling around on the field as one team or another discussed the game with the refs. There's no reason to debate calls...the game's over and the outcome isn't going to be changed. Get the captains to sign and move 'em off.

The last 4 games of the finals were played in dusk/dark and so the outcome was no doubt effected. It hurts when you miss second place by 17 points and you've shot out some your own guys because you couldn't see who they are in the dark...

I suspect GLP #2 will fix everything.

Oh, and make sure you have enough Hamburgers!

Bill (GXP)
