Computer Password

I am getting my computer tomorrow and the internet this weekend, I dont trust either of my 2 roommates from getting into "stuff" they shouldnt nor just messing with all the setting and generally jacking it up.

How do I set up a password that would stop you at the bios screen if you dont know it? (my local lan place has this system in place.) thanks in advance.

Actually, all of you are very wrong. It's very easy to get around the Windows Log in Passwords... VERY easy.

You can't get into their accounts easily though if they have a password. And the account protects their settings.

go into your bios, and set the bios password. Should say which key to hit, when you first boot up, like F2 or something..

To beat a windows log on password, you put the computer into safe mode. Then you can change the password as you see fit.

Do i care for you... No.

Okay, maybe a little.
Steps:
1. Re-boot the computer in Safe Mode
2. Once you reach the Windows Log-on/Welcome Screen, Log on with the only new option/person, entitled System Admin.
3. Let the Computer Boot
4. Click Control Panel
5. Click Users/Accounts
6. Click on the account you want to log onto at the lower portion of your screen.
7. Click Remove password. You will not be prompted to enter it there either. Trust me
8. Restart computer and log on under the name you want to get into..

You're welcome.

What if the persons account you wanted to bypass was the system admin and he had a password initially?

What would you do then ? Huh? What?

wow harshness....

I am sorry I was under the impression that from the windows user log on screen you simply had to click on "cancel" and violla! you get in anyway... hence why I was asking for a bios password...

thanks for the help I did get though...

I hate safe mode too. Hence why you just change the password, and then re-boot it and have everything normaly again.

Its realy hard to make windows fully secure. You would need a 3rd party logon program to have anything useful. Windows logon **** is very easy to get around, and no, im not telling anyone how to do it. Use the windows logon stuff if your roomates are idiots.
