Anyone else afraid of Battlefield 2?

Im scared this game is going to suck. Just look at Battlefield: Vietnam. BF42 is a great game but can they really recreate the rock, paper, scissors experience in modern era combat? With jets traveling fast, missiles, and helicopters. I think it will just be grab that helicopter and jet and own the other team.

Well Desert Combat is good, so I assume a mod done by professionals on a whole new (...right?) engine will be that much better. That being said, it would be the be all end all...it will just be a pretty good online game.

Haven't you played DC? It works out perfectly, and with a new engine, it can only get better. Like how ssgaR said.

I played DC in when it first came out. They even had soilders who could build sandbags. It was good but as soon as they took out building sandbags it completely destroyed it. It became run and gun game.

I never played it when you could build sandbags, that sounds sweet... Why did they take it out???

they have it in DCX i think. yeah, it's pretty sweet. the new version they came out with in october is nice. battlefield 2 i bet will blow bf1942/DC away judging from the screenshots and viddeos.

because you could stick them in stairwells and windows to block entrances.

It was the best feature they ever had. You just pressed a button and a wall of sandbags would appear (one of the small ones). You had like 3 with you so you could build a U shape. It created a way for troops to set up defence positions in diffrent places. I rember 1 game were the team was getting hit bad by arty and gun fire trying to cross/defend a bridge so we built a wall across and defended for a while till we were over run. It was the best multiplayer experience I have ever had. But thats all taken away now.

With battlefield 2 Im scared of a vietnam repeat, and EA's terrible patching.

the only thing BF really lacked was teamplay. Everybody plays for their own score, nobody sticks together. From what i've read, they have changed that for bf2 so that you have to play as a team in order to win.

The only thing I am afraid of is having the game own my life.

I dont think they can screw it up. The new engine is going to be worth it all in itself. Plus, they have trauma studios (peeps who made DC) doing the graphics and modeling.

the good thing is that you have to deploy mgs in bf2, so no more spray and pray
