Bolt moving freely back and forth?

I got a 2001 Hot Rod Impulse today, I know, not technically a smart parts gun but still a impulse. The bolt moves freely back and forth. I don't have CO2 hooked up but is it suppose to do that? First ever impulse, just didn't know if this was normal or what.

You sure? I read else where if you do and the bolt is moving freely it will break it possibly.

EDIT: I hooked up some air to it and it didn't do anything but spray air everywhere, tried 2 different tanks and it did the same thing. The pin that goes through the bolt is latched into the hammer as well. What caused it to do this?

Make absolutely sure the pin is in the hammer notch, not in front or behind. If it still leaks you need to tear it down and replace orings and lube it up.

If it is leaking from the tank and max flo connection, it could be that the pin that pushes the tank pin is too long. I had the same problem with my 2k1 impulse, I solve it by placing an extra o-ring in the max flo receiver before I screw in my tank. Others have used rotatory tools to grind down the max flo pin to the correct length.
