Thumbs up Shocker Maintenance 101

Alright so here is my latest for everyone out there... I will start to share weekly in the Dynasty and Shocker Forum comparing the different parts of the Shocker. I will give my personal opinion on the different parts and my personal experience on how they work.
Now if you don't like my opinion it is fine, however I probably have had more experience then most working on the team's guns since we got the Shockers.

This extends from the super Dirty gun’s of Alex Fraige, to the ever changing “Trigger Adjusting” Oliver Lang and the "Just Add Grease to it” Ryan Greenspan gun. I add these guys to the comments to add the life of a superstar and how they take care of their markers.

Last week I sent out the teams settings for the Dynasty board. We have had countless requests from everyone out there so hopefully the demand has be met. This week I am going to change my comparison of parts and go over basic maintenance.

The Shocker 03 is by far one of the easiest guns to maintain. Lots of people out there however are not informed that the Shocker is a “Higher-maintenance” gun. Now when I say that; I mean that you must keep your Shocker clean. If you do the gun will perform better then any gun out there. To keep you Shocker in the best working order you must have a few spare parts on hand at all times. These items should be purchased when you first get you new gun.

1- Ball detents (just get the SP ones. They work better then the rest and usually are cheaper).

2- Vision Strip (can be purchased from SP/ very important part)

3- O-ring kit (this should consist of at least 1-16/70, 3-17/70 (green ones), 1-front and rear bumper).

If you make sure these three items are always in good condition you will help maintain the best performance of your marker. Also include a tube of Dow 33 lube in you kit.
You will need to clean off the old lube and reapply a fresh coat each time you clean your marker.

The biggest issue that Dynasty faces is paint breaking. This is usually because people have accidentally turned off the eyes or the eyes have not been cleaned from before. My usual fix for this is to pull out the ball detents and put new ones in. The next step is to clean the eye strip off or replace it if the strip has stopped working. As long as the eye is working in the gun the Shocker usually rips. Make sure to also completely clean out the breach area and pull the bolt assembly out. Clean the paint out of the firing chamber re-grease the o-rings and put the bolt assembly back in the gun. If you do not have a clean pair of ball detents take the ones that you just took out of your gun, put them in an empty paint tube, put some water in the tube and shake the tube. This should clean the ball detents out completely. After you are done, blow the excess water off of the ball detents and put them back on your cleaned Shocker. You should be back in business.
A few other things to occasionally check on are the solenoid and the solenoid plate. The biggest issue is to make sure that the screws to both of these items are snug. Many times when people complain about their shocker leaking it is because their plate screws or solenoid are loose. The last thing is to make sure that the gun is kept dry. I have seen many screws in the trigger area rust because the gun is left wet.

I hope with what I have shared today that you are able to keep blasting away with your Shocker 03.

Rodney, you should consider getting a hold of the Kila v2 magnetic detents. They are working much better than my SP ones.

My stock bodied shocker has only been down twice in a little over a year, and it was used at least once a week. All you have to do is lube it before you play, and you'll be golden.

EDIT -- Thanks for taking the time to post this Rodney

Could a Mod merge all of Rodneys "Tech Tips" together on a sticky?

I know this is Stickied, but can you merge all the other ones. Like the Board settings and such like that.
