I have $50 that says this thread will not deter people from posting about college paintball scholarships.
Any takers?

I recall reading something about Penn State giving out a $5000 scholarship, and I'm almost positive NCPA had a small scholarship application on their website last year...

This thread will not be true in I believe less than 2 years. The UMaine Paintball Club currently has a scholarship of somewhere in the ballpark of 500 dollars available for a student within the UMaine System with a good academic background, who is going to participate in the UMaine Paintball Tournament Team, and who shows that they really enjoy the sport of paintball. It'll take time, but it's gonna happen, even if I gotta pay for it.

i can only wish that were true. My team was flat out refused any type of funding by our school. the offices have been more a pain in the *** than its been worth. our meeting room has repeatedly been locked. we can't get funding. its not looking good for the future of the club. all I can say is i'm glad i'm on the 5 yr plan so i've still got 3 more years to be a pain in their ***.

everything takes time and persistence. keep trying those outlets and if they don't work, go to other resources for funding-->fundraising, etc.

i just got a ? if your schools dont help you out why represent them if there not doing anything for you its like free publicity for your school i mean i know tyhat u all have like school pride and stuff but its f'd up that ur colleges cant help yas out with a little cash to get yas to practice or to help out with transportation or something i dont know what they do do for you but if they arent helping you out why represent them?

Two things...
1.) Name. Name is HUGE. Now obviously PSU is a larger name then some, but it works for all colleges. Do I need to say anything more then I am with the Penn State Paintball team for you to know where I am from, and for my team name to ring a bell more then "Chaos Kids". I walk into Smart Parts and tell them "PSU paintball" needs a sponsor they don't look at me like I just mentioned a name thy have never heard, they smile and say "Hey, my dad went there"
2.) Future- right now paintball is still a sport where old men sit in the woods with beers and shot each other and deer. The first time I went to our funding office i was laughed right out of the office, but boy was it worth it to walk back in 4 months later, 2 trophies under one arm and 4 magazines covering us i the other, smack them on the table and ask "When was the last time your Yoga club won trophies and got in magazines?"
PSU started out 3 years ago without a cent to our names and the laughing stock of the PSU campus. Now we are the third (maybe fourth) best funded competative club organization on campus.

the magazine angle is taken care of.... we're currently putting together a charity event to benefit Childrens Miracle Network (CMN). That should get us a lot of local news coverage. Now that we're takin care of the publicity aspect hopefully a little University support isnt far behind.
as far as persistance goes...... it took me 3 semesters to get the club recognized as a student organization. i dont expect much shorter a battle for our funding.
