Question PGP Assembly HELP

When I took my PGP apart, I found it VERY hard to take the bottom tube apart (the one where you stick the CO2 cartridge in).

I had to use all my weight and a screwdriver to remove that piece that comes into contact with the Co2 cartridge and ripped an ORing (all fixed now).

Is there an easier way to put that piece back?! It seems impossible, but the ORings could have been swollen, when I bought it the pump was a little messed due to the bolt ORing.

Thanks
