DM4 and Proto differences
Hey I really wanted to get a DM4, but was hesitent beacuase they are so expensive. Then I started checking out the Proto, and liked it a lot. From what I hear they are basically the same gun with different milling, besides the Proto being smaller which is better. Are there any other major differences, and is it a better deal to just go for the Proto? Someone please respond. My AIM is avengedphish.

dude, you are gunna get flamed because there are about 651381384141234103271387 threads about this.
proto:
no clamping rise
no on/off
aluminum buttons
proto 1 piece barrel
accepts dm4 aftermarket triggers
does not take aftermarker "chips" like advantage or tadao, but can get stock board reprogrammed
dm4:
clamping rise
on/off
membrane buttons
ultralite barrel
aftermarket chips
runs at slightly lower pressure than proto

both have same bolt design, so they are both going to perform/shoot/feel/and look pretty much the same.

Ok. The main issue for me is the money. So if getting a Proto would save me 200 or 300 bucks and have the same performance of a DM4 I think that would be the right gun for me.

I thought they are the same bolt. The DM5 bolt is smaller.

Is it a better idea to go with the Proto then for the money. I don't get why someone would get a DM4 when it sounds like the Proto is better for a cheaper price.

Proto isn't better. Not as upgraded and not as upgradeable. But, it is less expensive, and it does shoot like a matrix...quiet, fast.
So it is a matter of preference.

the alluminum buttons he is talking about is instead ofhaving a pad like the dm4/5 it has two buttons that are alluminum.... i have a proto and a dm4 and i use the proto over the dm4 the proto is smaller lighter and i think it shoots just as fast as a dm4... really you should go to your local shop and dry fire both too see what you feel better with
