yup, that was my gun, its sold now.

The Z-grip was made long before e-guns came out. It was designed for the front player to play an extremely tight game with out having their wrist behind up.

The Z-grip was originally offered in 1997 as a logical answer to the way markers are held and shot.

Real pistols are held at arms length, and so requires the the grip is angled rearward to accomodate the human hand. However, in paintball we hold the marker tight to the body, and up high to our face, which creates an unnatural hold. By reversing the .45 angle to a forward rake, the ergonomical Z-grip returns the natural hold.

Alas, far too many people just didn't "get it", thinking that it is uncomfortable to hold simply by looking at it (these may have been the same people that bought pet rocks..).

Players that know/understand engineering, quickly saw the advantages to the Z-grip...but production was halted too soon for them. A little while ago, AGD found a few more in their attic, and those quickly sold out. So, if you really really want one, you have to search high and low...or Automags.org and Ebay...for a player willing to part with one.

But not me! I got mine back in early '98, and will never let it go

I have a Y frame, and it is very comfortable to use. It seems awkward at first, but the first time I used it I never noticed it. I would imagine the Z frame to be just as comfy.

I probably should have never sold my z-frame, its by far one of the best designed frame ever.

now if only someone would come out with a z-clammy for the freestyle, I would be in heaven.

I think the production went like this

Z-grip from AGD

Z-grip was licensed out to Zenitrans

Y-grip was then produced.

I wonder if tom got the idea of the Y-from Zenitrans

No.

Look at the pictures of me playing, notice the extreme angle of the frame. Now ( this is the hard part, follow closely), look at the not nearly as extreme angle of the Y-frame and Zenitrans so-called Z-frame. You notice that the AGD Y and Zenitran are pretty darn close (but far from exact), but the AGD Z and Zenitran are not?

No AGD licensed product, that. My guess is, they call it the "Z", for "Z"enitran.

Army,
If in your travels you would happen across another Z-grip would you please pass the word on to me. I have been looking for one for quite some time, just never in the right place at the right time.
These things like so many mag inovations were just WAY ahead of their time.

too bad AGD called the Z the Z because of the shape it makes with the gun and the tank. The Y is a type of Z-grip. So is the Zenitran grip, it's just that AGD already had a Z-grip, and Zenitram didn't. It has nothing to do with "Z"enitran.

You sir are an idiot.

The ZenitraM grip is licensed by AGD and Tom Kaye himself to allow Zenitram to produce a "z-grip".

I know what a z-grip is, I played with one, if you looked at the 2nd post my thread with my gun was listed.

Thirdly I was saying the production went like this.

The Z-grip was introduced (this was done in late 90's as a solution for front players so they could play tight and keep their wrists in a natural position.)

It was then license out to Zenitran to produce their "z-grip" under AGD licensing (this was produced in late 2001, early 2002

Then the Y-grip was produced in 2003.

See, you're an idiot and clearly are not the expert in what I was talking about.

All I was sayin was, I wonder if tom looked at Zenitram's Z-grip and goes, wow that is a good shape, we should make a Y grip.
