Wink problems, and tech ?'s 4 FS

well i went to use my new 04 fs today and after i set the hpr and got it consistantly cycling (at 1st it was shooting like 3-4 balls then just not recocking) well i got it to be relativily consistant when shooting around 300fps, but the field is indoor and the chrono is 250, so i adjusted my lpr so the noid would leak then backed it off about a 1/4 turn. after that i used my hpr 2 change the velocity...thats where the trouble started, it would shoot like 2-3 balls at about 245-250 then it would just randomly spike in velocity or bottom out...like 245,250,330,170...etc
so i gave my gun to a guy there who knew a little about fs's and he said it was my lpr spring spacer (the little brass cap with the point on it in the front bullet shaped part of the lpr) he said that the point was smashed in when i adjusted the lpr too much, and that the point balances on the screw point that you use to adjust the lpr. but i looked at the schematic and it shows the point on the spacer pointing towards the gun. so who is right and what is my problem? why cant i get my gun down to 240-250fps?
please help me i really dont want to have to use a tippmann again....it brings back terrible memories
if you really know what your talking about in reguards to fs's please talk to me on AIM at wise1515

you adjusted the regs wrong, you can set the lpr for 300 and then turn it down to 250 without reseting the lpr, that's why it's called a balancing act and not a set it a forget... act? anyways just try to reset the regs, lube everything, and have fun

i tihnk you made a mistake there bro... let me help you so you dont get confused...
1. turn HPR up to 275 (non-HE bolt) or 310 (HE bolt)
2. turn up LPR until you hear a leak. then back out about 1 full turn.
3. adjust HPR to get desired velocity
4. fine tune lpr

as you can see the pin-head deal on the spacer is pretty much worn down quite a bit...so does that matter at all...and which way is it supposed to point?

It doesn't matter that the pin thing is smooshed. It is just a spacer/washer between the spring and adjuster.

i though that the higher you turned up the LPR the lower the FPS (for freestyle). Dont know, just think i have heard that from somewhere.
read your manual if you have one and go by that.
or go to ICD-owners group and see if they have an artical about this.

well im at home now and i dont have a chrono but i did what timmytimmy14 said (even though thats what i did at the field, but that guy put my spacer in backwards )and now it sounds and feels more consistant. because before it was bouncing all over the chrono 150-350fps....=not cool. but now it sounds better, i think i need to lube it all up better too, i have slick honey on the way, so hopefully that should solve some problems as well.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

he kit
WITH HOPPER OFF

1. adjust hpr to 350
2. adjust lpr so that bolt barely cocks
3. dryfire slowly a few times.
4. if bolt is cocking every time, raise lpr 1/8-1/4 turn more.
5. chrono
6. if you need to raise velocity up hpr and start at number 1 again. lower velocity by lower hpr and start at number 1 again.

it only takes about 30 seconds once you are used to this and this is teh best way to setup your freestyle!

Why does evveryone think you have to make the noid leak then turn out? That's the suggested Bushy and BKO method and I still don't think it's the most optimal way to set your regs. I always do cocker-style. Ensures lowest cocking pressure.

u turn the lpr up until it just barely cocks the gun then give it a tad bit more for good measure

well i tried both ways to set the regs and niether seem to help now.
when i tilt my gun to the right on an angle like / it shoots fine but when it is straight up or tilted back i still get the massive bounces in velocity and or bolt not recocking. i talked to another guy and he said that there may be a pinched hose or something in the gun that is constricting the air flow. then the guy who tried to help me last night says that the rod on the end of that lpr spacer need to be longer to keep it centered.
please please help me if you know that your sure what your talking about.

Check all the o-rings, and make sure they are lubified. Also be sure you didn't turn the on/off in to much, that can restrict airflow.

all orings seem fine, i still havent got my slick honey yet but most parts still have a decent factory lube on them.

still no ideas with the tipping of the gun in relation to it not shooting?????
