Slick Honey on my ND FS
Hey guys, my friend (mikey lew) on the naughty dogs finally convinced me to buy one of his team's guns. I own a dm4 as well and have used slick honey on it all the time, well, i dont know if you guys use it for fs's or not, but holy **** it works good! My fs with slick honey is way quieter and smoother than his with "battle lube" on it. Just thought i'd share how great the stuff works on these guns.

Just so everyone knows, there was no actual comparison of my gun with battle lube and his gun with slick honey on "quietness" and "smoothness", in fact, these guns have never been fired side by side.
Ben, can you back up your statements with scientific fact? Before you go and tell everyone what you "discovered" shouldn't we actually compare these guns separately, meaning comparing slick honey and battle lube on each gun as opposed to against each other. Are we sure that my gun isn't inherently louder than yours for any other reason than the lube we are using? Can we be sure that both guns were manufactured to identical standards? Because only then can we begin to compare performance (what you call "quietness" and "smoothness") based on what lube we use. I would like to know what standards you used to measure "quietness" or "smoothness" for that matter. Did you happen to capture the decibels of my gun shooting somehow when I wasn't looking? Or perhaps you just have an "ear" for it. As for smoothness, were you able to measure the amount of friction that occurs when my gun cycles?
When was the last time you even shot or held my gun? The last I remember was way back last year when I first got it. Does your memory serve you so well that you can compare our guns without even have shot mine in the last 4 or 5 months?
....That was fun! Just kidding all, I love ben and his gun rocks! Slick honey is good stuff. I use battle lube cause it doesn't seem as tacky, seems thinner. But then again I haven't tried slick honey. My advice, try both, the difference between them is pretty marginal. You can't go wrong with either. But seriously ben, "...way quieter and smoother..."? I think you are exaggerating a little.

slick honey lubes great, but ive found that it is almost too thin for the FS. after a full day of play the bolt felt very stiff with slick honey. i am currently using 50/50 oil and dow33 or motion potion and both of these seem to hold up a lot better. the FS seems to blow lube out of the bolt/valve very quick.

I always relube the bolt after every day of use, that way the gun can be reliable and consistant. With any kind of drag can cause troubles.

I find that superlube works best on my FS. It's a bit smoother than slick honey and it lasts longer from my experience. I used my friend's slick honey when I was at his house dryfiring and it started to stick after a while. I took the bolt out after it really got bad and the slick honey was pretty much all gone. With superlube my friends and I dryfired a 68/45, 90/45, and then a 45/45 and it didn't stick at all. That's just my experience though

it's basically the same stuff radioshack sells I believe. I got mine from the superlube.com website. Somewhere I read a thread about Lubricant Research, might have been at ICD-O, can't remember, but they liked the Superlube better than Dow33, so I tried it, and it's pretty good IMO

I personally have switched to Super lube oil. IT seems to work better in the cold weather we have been having.

something else to try
I've been using Evil Pus which seems to hold up well. The green color is sort of weird though.
Slick honey is great, but I would agree that it is a little on the thin side.
Does anyone know the best way to keep the lube off the derin front of the bolt? Since the inner part of the bolt slides inside the outer part, it seems to get some on the derin tip.

Who wha?

Lubegel/Super lube I found to be too thick in temps under 32-35* .. At a tourny this weekend I had to relube the marker and come up with a 50/50 mix of lubegel and Gold Cup Lube to have the gun even keep a usable velocity for the duration of the tourney.
Rocky, where did you find the super lube oil at?
