NJ Paintball Club

Anyone ever played at NJ Paintball Club in Butler, NJ?

If not, don't bother. I have never been to a field where the refs/staff is so anal retentive. Un-friggin-believable.

My friend was at the checkin window and his barrel plug fell out (he had no paint or air in the gun) and the refs started freaking out. "PLAYER PLAYER! BARREL PLUG! THAT BARREL PLUG IS USELESS!!"

He was working on a slight gas leak on his gun in the parking lot and the ref is like "PLAYER! DONT DISCHARGE THAT WEAPON!"

I'm talking militant... total @ssholes.

One ref cursed out my friend to no end (who had gun problems and didnt play all day) because he detached his barrel from the gun and was looking down the barrel (with the gun on the ground) and no air attached to it.

The refs blatantly favor their hometeam (The Predators) during games and are all around total jerkoffs.

It is FPR of course and every bag in our case of Team Colors had 1 broken ball in it - no refunds.

From what I hear from people there, the refs regularly remove at least 2 people a day from the field and tell them not to come back and get in FISTFIGHTS with customers.

Its unreal the way they run this place... Sorry for the long post... moral of the story..... avoid this place like the plague. It's a shame it was my other friend's first paintball experience.
BTW their website is www.njpaintball.com

Anyone else been there?

I played there for many years but stopped because there were too many inexperienced players on Saturdays. (they have special "walk on days" where more experience players go). It is true that they have THE strictest enforcement of safety rules that I've ever encountered. This is particularly hard for new players who have difficulty remembering the rules. While I don't always agree to how they enforce those rules, I can appreciate the intent to maintain safety. I guess I didn't have a problem with it because I just got used to following them. In comparison, when I play at any other fields, I have to be much more guarded (the refs regularly fail to enforce safety rules).

One interesting practice that they do is if you break a rule (ie taking off your mask) they put a "penalty" armband on you (to rember who it was). If you do it again, they sit you out a game.

I have not been there in a while, but it looks like you have a particularly bad day. When I was there, there were several refs (the older ones) that were the best I've seen.

Yes, I've seen them kick people out for safety violations, but I don't think they were "looking" to do it and the story that the refs get into fistfights with customers sounds like an exaggeration, whoever you heard it from.

The paint, depending on whether they have a special in effect is among the most expensive (but was at the time I went consistently good quality). They're fields are really unique (huge boulders, gullies, etc.)

Quote:
SPECIAL NOTICE TO EXPERIENCED PLAYERS WHO HAVE NEVER VISITED NJ PAINTBALL CLUB BEFORE: If you are used to playing at other NY Metro area playing sites, please be aware that the staff and management of NJ Paintball Club are considered STRICT in the enforcement of safety regulations. We utilize ADULT referees who are also experienced players and who expect a visiting player’s full cooperation with our club’s efforts to maintain insurance safety protocols.
WARNING: if you have a problem obeying rules, a problem with authority, a problem following instructions, a bad attitude, are prone to flying off the handle, are verbally abusive, overly aggressive, tend to provoke fights, like to play while drunk or stoned, wipe off hits, play through hits, cheat, shoot hot, sneak your own paint onto playing fields, tend to argue calls with a ref, have a problem keeping your finger off the trigger in parking and staging areas, have a poor record of using a barrel plug, like to ignore no firing areas, have a habit of taking off your goggles whenever you please, and an aptitude for ignoring, bending, or breaking regulations, PLEASE do yourself and NJ Paintball Club a favor and DO NOT VISIT OUR PLAYING SITE!

Players who refuse to cooperate with the enforcement of our insurance safety regulations are warned, reprimanded, penalized, and if necessary EJECTED from the playing site WITHOUT REFUND ... with POLICE ESCORT if required.

Our game rules and insurance safety regulations are FULLY explained during morning and afternoon orientations before you begin to play, and then firmly enforced throughout the day. For a list of our regulations before you visit, click on the Basic Playing Regulations link of this web site or call our office at 973-838-7493 and we will FAX or mail our regulations to you.

another thing I forgot to add to my earlier post was that during the orientation they preceeded to say that may people DIE every month from getting shot in the face with paintballs. ALSO, they said that you cannot bring your own paint cause the insurace company onl;y allows ths one certain brand...well that is bull. I understand if you want to sell field paint only, but dont lie about it.. I know ma=ny field owners..and their insurance companys could give 2 shi****s about what paint you use.
