Costs of living in SoCal?

I've been thinking about it for a little while and now I'm wondering if it would be possible. Mainly I want to move near San Diego because I want to get the hell out of this cold stuff and that area is like the mecca of paintball. So what I'm asking it bascially how much to 1 bedroom apartments go for, is car insurance insainly high like New York's and are there alot of jobs out there for a 19 year old.

You can get a job and easily a afford a one bedroom apartment and car stuff it's just buying/renting houses that's expensive an apartment shouldn't be too bad. Do you own a house right now?

No I don't own a house...I'm living with my parents right now but I am defiantly responsible enough to get my own apartment. If I get really interested in this I'd have to see if there is a college over there to take civil engineering or architectural courses.

Well yeah I'm planning on going to a CC for the first two years in civil engineering and then transfering to a SUNY school or if my grades are good enough to RPI/Private school.

Bah... Maybe I should just wait until I'm finished with college, because knowing my luck I wouldn't get into a college over there and become trailer trash garbage eater...

If your looking at so-cal and paintball is ur thing then move to corona its cheap to live out there cause its in the middle of the hills and is in the middles of nowhere. you can get a descent job for 19 there and you'll be close to the SC Villiage

Well, first off you are coming from New York, the only place higher that SD.
Average 1 bdrm - $800 -> $1200
Cable/Internet/Phone ~ $75
Power ~ $40

This is from 5 years of by my self and with other roomies.
Pony5oh knows what I am talking about, It ain't cheap out here. But you can do it.

beach towns in socal are where its at. fo sho. get a job at like a surf shop or something super easy. if you have a few roomates and live in a small house it isnt too bad. i live in oceanside, its one of the last undeveloped beach towns in san diego...its pretty much northcounty by camp pendleton with some weirdos and a lot of sketch. affordable living, avg house is about 450K

SD isn't the mecca. All the good fields are up north more.
