Hey there. I try to mod my old GZ with the new barbs from hybrid because they are stainless steel not brass and offering higher flow than the barbs that are right now in.
Ok changed all Brass Barbs out. Insert the first stainless barb from Hybrid. twist it without high mechanical force only with my fingers *SNAP*.
Ok right there goes one barb and the rest is sitting in the barbhole.
I think had bad luck on that one. Carry on with the second one.
Put the barb carefully in and twist it with my fingers that it sits smooth with the body (i also dont forget the washers that are with the brass one put them on the stainless ones). It fits perfect. Then my body slit out of my hand. I got it (only get 5cm away) but the stainless barb i screwed in touched my thumb and *SNAP* there goes the second one. Now i need to get the broken Barb Parts out of the holes until i could reinsert my old barbs again *sigh*
Could that be ? I heard about bad barbs (only the older ones) but i mean these are stainless and from hybrid normally Stainless Steel holds a lot more than Brass.
Does this happened also to someone else out there ? Im always trusting in Hybrid Products because they are making great products (own the grip panels, also the eye covers and a reg and never had problems) but now im a little bit disappointed. I think i stay with the brass barbs that bob offers.
cīmon you apes, do you wanna live forever ?
i had the same thing happen to me on my GZ. almost all of the hybrid barbs broke. i found that if you use the hybrid barbs with the small washers that came with the original bob long brass barbs, they tend to break easily. i used the hybrid barb without the washer and it was a little stronger. too bad it was leaking and when i tightened it... it too broke. i think the hybrid highflow barbs are a piece of crap for GZs at least. i've heard this problem a lot with GZ owners.
i eventually bought the bob long brass high flow barbs and those seem to work just fine with a decent amount of tension. i tighten them loosely with my fingers and then when i feel the first indication of tension, i turn it 1/4 of the way more, but no further. i haven't broke one yet with that technique. p.s. it's okay to use the washers on the bob long high flows.
