when you are just breaking in a new excal or viking, yes you can chop. After it's broken in though you will pinch balls....very freaky thing if you've never experienced it.

I just played with my Viking, not a single chop in the breech, with my 15V Reve.

However, I did get a bunch of barrel breaks, might have been because the weather was cold, my autococker did the same thing, but my autocoker did pinch a ball, instead of chopping, it was pretty weird, my bolt stopped on the ball, had me miffed for a second, I thought I blew out my pneus.

hmmm....I have already pinched a ball with my viking. Maybe it was just a frear occurance. But the bolt got stuck in the front position and I could see the piched ball in the breach.

nope...no bounce. Just gets stuck in the foward position. And I have practically rip the skin off of my fingers to recock it.

Did the ball chop? If the ball chops and a piece of the shell gets lodged between the bolt and the breach it can get stuck.

wierd, angels, matrixs, and imps all bounce and there open bolt same design as the viking, maybe the ball just jammed the bolt since it was so hard to pull back you say.

Yeah, it pinches the ball and causes the bolt to jam forward. It's happened a few times now. Not in my last 1000 rounds though.

How many cases does it take to break in a excal or viking until they dont chop and start the pinching thing?

It is suggested that you run 7-10 cases of paint through the Viking, before lowering the pressure in the LPR.

I am already on my fourth case, I should be able to do it real soon.

I run a Warp, and a 15V Revy on my viking, and have no problem chopping balls, until the battery for the Viking goes low, and then I am in chop city.

Usually what happens, is that the ball get's chopped, then the bolt sticks in the forward position, and I need to manually pull the bolt back.

This was happening for a while when I played on Sunday, till one of my buddies who owns an Excal told me to change out my battery. Problem solved, no more problems.

hmm, to break the gun in can you just shoot the gun w/o a barrel on over and over and over again (with paint, into some soft container), to get up to 5+ cases fast?

air sure isnt hard to come by..

You dont even need paint. The only advantage shooting paint would give you is more efficiancy.. Meaning, If you shot no paint you will get less shots on a tank then you would if shooting paint. You could just get a tank and fill it a few times and drain it and your marker should be broken in. I would put a couple drops of lube in the asa about every 4k-5k shots.

After that you can turn down your LPR to about 60psi. If you go to low, it will feed fine but you wont be able to get the velocity above a certain point.. say 200 fps. I would guess 55-60 like the Excal would be perfect.

Hey here's a funny chop chop story hehe... Me and my team was practicing the other day and I was shooting Diablo Premium. Well first my cocker piched about 3 times during rapid fire. Which struck me odd since it's pretty much stock except the ANS front block kit. Then a screw wiggled it's way out of the 3-way coupling and I had to use my old spyder one. Which is stock, not even a LP chamber much less LP operation. Anyway it was pinching too wouldn't chop at all. Then finally at the end of the day I got shot right in the forehead above my mask and yup now I know why I was pinching paint all day.

lol Though it was funny. But on another not a teamate has a pewter milled excal and I've seen it pinch a warped bad ball. He just pulled the trigger or should I say breathed on the trigger again and it recocked and fired the ball. I haven't had the pleasure of shooting a viking yet but I know the excal is the most amazing marker I've had in my hands.
