Philippine Paintball Team in Beijing 2008?

Googling 'Paintball Olympics' will get you about 174,000 hits, and led me to think of the possibilities for the Philippines finally getting that elusive olympic gold.

Paintball i think is the ticket... clamor for it as an olympic sport seems to be growing around the world.

Ecuadorian paintballers are already taking the first step towards local(South American) recognition for paintball as an olympic sport:

articles regarding this possiblity had already been published in several magazines(eg...PB2X):

A qoute:
" How close is paintball to meeting the criteria" We're getting there. Paintball is now being played competitively in more than 50 countries and certainly on 4 continents, The problem with paintball is that there currently isn't a "federation" governing the sport. ( See IFs) This is a must before any consideration will be given to including paintball in the Olympics, even a demo mode. "

Popular mechanics has this on their website:

but AAFLA(Amateur Athletic Association of America) was quick to correct
article:

anyway, it would seem that the best way to see this happen is to encourage the creation of a CENTRAL GOVERNING BODY for Paintball in the Philippines and probably later on in SE Asia.

2008 is a good 4 years away, and the venue is Beijing. there's more than enough time, and it's only 4hrs away.

and I firmly believe pinoy 'baller's have more than enought talent to get it done right

Trying to set up a national/regional paintball body is certainly something to be encouraged. In reality it means having the local organisers tournies agree to abide by their decisions and if possible try to have players register as members so their support can be clearly demonstrated.

You won't be seeing Paintball in 2008 as the decision as to what sports can be played are taken well in advance i.e it's already decided. You'll have to try for 2012
