could be LPR being too high. I would try to loctite it again. I would never use Teflon tape. Just go through everything possible and try quarantine it and then loctite it.

Sometimes dust can wedge in the qev and prevent it from sealing, but if it worked until he took it off, then didn't when he put it back on...

Jacko told me to use green penetrating loctite to seal small air fittings. Some people say that this is a bad idea, but I haven't had any issues. The seal breaks easily when you want to take the stuff back aprt and it seals well when you wait for it to set up. You can usually get the stuff at auto parts stores.

green? ouch your choice but I had to bake my Tribal to get the neck off after being put on with green locktite red should seal just fine with not so permanent a hold. Anyway make sure threads on QEV and Ram are clean before mating. And yes def check the LPR preasure all you need is enough to cock the gun plus a little hair added for reliable use

I would go with blue, very non-permanent.

Red was less permanent than green for you? I have to believe we are talking about different loctite formulas. The green stuff I used was almost brittle- it sealed air fittings well, but it's always been easy to break the "loc."

Maybe there is more than one variety of green? I've always had to use heat with the red stuff, funny enough.

First off, if it is leaking AROUND the threaded fitting, using a thread sealant such as Loctite will solve the problem...if the leak is coming from the exhaust port of the QEV, then the QEV is probably fouled with small piece of dirt...

Second...there are several grades/colors of Loctite for all kinds of applications...you have

222 (purple) which is a small screw light duty

242 (blue) Medium duty...removable

262 (red) permanent threadlocker...heat to release

271 (red) high strength adhesive/sealant...removable

277 (red) extra high strength...heat to release

290 (green) wicking thread locker...lock and seal pre-assembled parts

609 (green) general purpose retaining compound...(press fits)

680 (green) high strength retaining compound...(press fits)

So you can see there are many posibilities here...

I generally use 242 (blue) for most sealing tasks and 271 for high strength jobs...the 271 is high strength yet tool removable without heat in most instances...yes. I use 271 for QEVs

Note...also, 262 (red) has been known to eat chrome!

Crikey! We also have 638 (green) over here in Europe to add to that list. 638 is what Jack uses when he fits QEV's to Eclipse cockers.

Nicky.

Hmmm...haven't run across that one over here...I would assume it is a retaining compound if it is in the "600" range of Loctite products...

I am guessing that the 290 green is what I am familiar with. Thanks for the list, Hammer.

Jacko was probably refering me to 638- I am glad I found something suitable, rather than 680!
