tech certification and whatnot.
Paulis and I were wondering how aka does the whole 'become a certified tech' dealie. Also, we are wondering if there is an available class at MMG this coming year?
Pualis- Yes, and also, if there were any prerequisites, prior knowledge, age limits, and what the costs are..

Are there two seperate certifications for Vikings and Excaliburs? Also, I'd really like to know if we can get certified at MMG. Thanks.

Yes, that was asked in the original post. If the class was offered at MMG, I would almost positively go.

Found out from AKA that
1) Tech classes are free.
2) A tech class will be held at MMG unless there is another tournament they are attending that weekend.
3) They will know for sure when MMG is coming close.

FREE TECH CLASSES
that is a very smart move by AKA.
I think the only downside to more popularity for the Excalibur is due to its relative obscurity, and for those who do know about it, the lack of local service/airsmithing/knowledgeable techs is the real limiting factor.
I know the Excal is pretty easy to service, but there will always be those people who don't want to do it, or aren't able to do it.
So that's great to hear AKA is encouraging techs to become knowledgeable about their markers.

I agree, great move by AKA. I'm really looking forward to become an official tech and deal with my marker problems by myself for once.

I hope not. I love my gun, and would love to know the insides of it, and also be able to help anyone who has problems with it..
Also, free tech classes are great. I should be attending MMG this year..

MMG is Michigan Monster Game. It's held annually at Hells Survivors in Pinckney MI. The website can be found through http://www.exoticsportz.com/mgame.htm
It's a BYOP big/huge game. Had a blast last year and several Wiseguys are returning this year.

Age for tech class
Don't know if they have a specified age minimum, but when we bought our Excaliburs, Hyperactive went through the class as a complete team. My son is only 13 and they had no problem with him going through it. The really great thing is there was no reason for any concern about it... the markers are really quite simplistic in design. They weren't kidding when they said their intent was to "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid). They are very sound, and easy to work on, as long as you pay attention to the few places where you need to observe certain precautions with assembly/dissassembly.

So, this course would allow you to work on the Excal without voiding the warranty or anything?
This is nice...
