Lasering the "Plain Jane" Excalibur

Just wanted to show off the lasering I'm doing for our team's Excaliburs. We have 5 black, unmilled, and one green acid-washed, unmilled. Trying to come up with a bit of team standardization, plus allow some individualizing. We're standardizing with a team design of the team name on the larger nubin cover, and a player's name on one of the smaller data port covers, and their jersey number on the other smaller cover. On this one, Tyler Lloyd wanted some scroll work down the side, plus his family crest on it as well.

I think the next one will have the team standard, plus some flames down the side.

Laser cut stickies

The laser also makes short work of getting those DYE stickies to cleanly fit the double trigger frame.

Looks Awesome!
Will the lettering look as vibrant on other anno colors?

If you are offering this out as a service let us know what prices are.

Think you could take a picture of the laser you do this with? I'm curious as to what kinda setup you have running.

Thanks,
Mike

Prices, vibrant colors, andthe laser used

I'll try and hit a few of the replies...

1) Actually, the black industrial ano has the dullest white lasering. The color anos laser a visibly more vibrant white. You do, however, sometimes have an almost imperceptable hint of the ano color in the white. Some reds laser to a VERY SLIGHT pink tinge in the white.

2) Yes, I'm certainly happy to offer this to any Excalibur/Viking owner. Actually, ANY marker owners, it just happens I'm for some reason partial to the Excalibur/Vikings... (grinning)

I'll post here as soon as I have the pricing posted on the Laser Specialties, Inc. website. My site is being rebuilt, tailored to the paintball market. I'll say I'm trying the "make it affordable, and they will come" approach. However, I don't want to offend anyone by posting them in this forum. If you want them emailed to you, email me asking for them. chuck@laser-specialties.com

3) I'll post a shot of the actual lasering in progress from the next one I do. It's a 100 watt CO2 infared laser system. WAY OVERKILL for doing ano work (100 watts will cut though 1/2 inch hardwood in one pass). You only need 10 watts to adequately laser ano. You're actually simply bleaching the pigment in the metal to white, rather than removing it.

I'll post some more Excalibur samples as I get them done. Hey Dan... I need a Viking to sample... any thoughts?

Not mine, just yet! I'll ask a couple of my team mates when they get theirs next week though.

So,
Would you be able to do it on Angels? What if it is powdercoated, you can still do it right?

Haven't done any eyes yet, but I have reduced the world's tattoo population by 1. Of course, I had to guess at the power setting that first time, and the poor guy went from having his ex's name dyed in his arm to engraved in his arm!
