Why the hell is Cuba stil embargoed?

What's the point? Why don't we just invade, overthrow Castro, create a Cuban Commission, and let that said commission appoint a leader. Meaning the assocociation we hand picked, hand picks a leader. It's obviously worked in the not-so-distant past.

Because the day we start working with those greasy commies is the day we start working with those godless Soviets (or giving them massive reconstruction loans in excess of billions of dollars) raaaaaaaar

I don't think there's any good reason, it's probably just pettyness on the part of the US government. Most of the rest of the world still trades with Cuba

We're proving a point: communism doensn't work. We're proving this by breaking the country to give the impression that it doesn't work...

Woohoo!

If there's a reason it seems like it'd be something along those lines.

i think we should open trade cuz castro is an old dude and we should probably be on good terms with cuba for when hes gone.

BTW i think what jimmy carter has been doing with cuba is grounds for treason. hang him high

it's all about cigars. a vast majority of people feel the cuban cigar is better than it's dominican counterpart. Therefore there will always be a trade embargo against cuba. It all boils down to the cigar afficionados and thier direct control of the US government.

ok..so I can't base that on anything and I'm talkin stright outta my ***...

There are many complicated reasons. There is no one answer. The best answer is one word: Idiocy. That just about covers all the reasons.

It's common sense that the way you bring down a communist government is to flood it's markets with western goods and fill it's hotels with western tourists.

Fine and educated you say? I've yet to meet a Cuban girl meeting both these qualities. I have however met a few from the Dom. Rep. that are both.
