PMI PE 68/3k steel Original Hydro date of 03/04. The guy selling thinks it's only good till 03/07 (3 year) but I believe all steel tanks are 5 years before first hydro. For $40 shipped I may grab this and use it as a backup.

Steel is 5 year before first rehydro correct?

68/3000 should be an aluminum tank, not steel.

3A steel & 3AL aluminum are 5 year
3HT steel are 3 year (NOT certified for use in paintball)

If a tank lasts for fifteen years or what not, does the stock reg go bad and become less consistant and crappy overtime?

The spring packs and seals will wear out over time and either lose pressure, or start creaping higher. when you lose pressure, it's generally from a spring losing it's compression. when the pressure creeps higher, it's generally from a bad seal.

Hey guys i got a question. I brought my tank to the local pball shop for a quick filling and i was turned down because of the rehydro date.

Crossfire Tank 45/45
Dot-E11194 4500 PSI M4927
TC-SU 5303 310 BAR

date is 03-02
The tank said retest every 5 years per US DOT
and 3 years per TC-SU

Does this mean it needs to rehydro or what?
btw i'm in TX,US

Ok... I just bought this tank off Ebay advertised as a 5yr tank. Here are the numbers: DOT-E11005, TC-3FCM, 10/05 date. On the tank label it says Rehydro every 3 years. The seller just emailed me that rehydro dates are determined by the DOT#. Whats up?????

Jimmy, The date on the tank is when it was manufactured/last tested.
Your 5 year due date would be 2010
