Hey, I'm not complaining, I watch the BBC often

I can't stand a lot of the American news. I don't want to hear about every young boy who gets attacked by a dog. I don't want to hear about a gang slashing tires in NYC. I just want to watch what's important.

Well a terrorist attack is murder. A car collision is vehicular manslaughter at best. It's not really about politics, it's about what sells.

Would you want to buy a newspaper with a big picture of bin Laden over the fold, or a picture of a car?

That's because if you started showing world events it would confuse the hell out of Americans

"Africa? What the hell is Africa?.... South of Europe? What the hell crap are those reporters smoking???" and they would quickly change the channel. So you guys continue to get "car drives into pole, car break into pieces, people go to hospital, more at 11"

One of my good friends (who is in college) thought that Clinton was the first Democratic President ever.

I like the avatar too.

For all our shortcomings, I'm still proud to be an American, not an American Jr.

i am not proud to be an american. more like i feel really bad paying the government to screw people over but not like i can avoid it.

EDIT: come to think of it i dont think i would ever have pride in a country, after all they are just imaginary lines people fight over.

Indeed. At the risk of sounding like a hippy douch, we live in the WORLD, not countries.
