ummmm thats like saying a liberal government is supposed to go out and do everything

conservatives (at least the rational ones) think the government should deal only with what it was meant to deal with

timmothy mcvieh (sp) didnt cause us to fall into massive debt. And im sorry but two building falling down dosn't magically throw us in massive debt. The only thing it may have effected economically is NY. NY is 1 out of 50 states sorry buddy but that dosn't make any sence.

Yeah cus chaning your beliefes is impossible, he must just be trying to look good. Give me a break.

I think he was talking about spending... And yes, in normal circumstances, conservatives wouldn't be out trying to spend gobs of money. But these are not normal circumstances. 9/11 threw all of that out of whack. Like I said, whether you're for the war or you aren't, We wouldn't be there now if 9/11 never happened.

think about it, over 2000 people lost their jobs in 9/11, several thousands were injured, so they couldnt work, hospitals were packed, many familys were too busy mourning than working, and our biggest trade facility was destroyed, sou ur telling me that about 50,000 people(icluding the mourning people,)and no trade on the entire east coast didnt cause us to go into debt?

That's less than the tip of the iceberg. Travel was shut down. Sporting events, everything was cancelled. Tourism plummeted and still hasn't recovered. That's millions, tens of millions right there.

Fighter planes are already figured in the budget. The death of an entire industry is not.

9/11's effects were short lived, every thing rebounded, tourism is back up, hotel occupancy is back up. 9/11 may have helped speed up the recession but certainly did not cause it.

They're back up, but not where they were pre-9/11. And besides, that's not even my biggest point. I'll say it again. Two invasions ocurred as a result of the attacks. Two very expensive invasions.

Um, no. Go check out some graphs on deficits online. They'll show a MAJOR surplus during Clinton and then a huge dropoff during Bush's first year, BEFORE 9-11-2001.
