Just something to think about with regards to the draft.

The 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution is (to my knowledge) as follows:

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

So in regards to Section 1 of the 13th Amendment, is the Selective Service System unconstitutional?

P.S. Why was this forum made now and not back when I made the recommendation?

Because in times of war all bets are off. The president is capable of enacting executive decisions.

Pretty much when America is in danger the commander in chief is authorized to do whatever it takes to defend our borders.

Just enlist so you don't have to worry about getting drafted in the rather unlikely circumstance that the draft ever comes back.

I'm not trying to make a case for whether or not the President of the U.S. can issue a draft. Congress has the power to enforce that amendment but they also have the power not to, so it doesn't really matter. I'm just throwin' something out there to think about.

Don't forget though, even if you did get drafted you would get paid, so the amendment doesn't really apply.
