quick question, whats double clutching, and why is it good to do it in races sometimes? I asked a friend and he said it's pretty much the way it sounds he said you push in the clutch shift, let off completely and as soon as you let off you press it fast again and let off just as you hit the maximum clutch pedal travel?

WTF?! Double clutching is when you clutch to take it out of gear, release clutch while it's in neutral. Rev the engine to desired RPM level and then clutch and put it into gear. It's manually doing what the synchros do for you. In race trannys that have no synchros you have to double clutch so you don't get gear clash and put excessive stress on the gears with one moving thousands of RPM's faster then the other. A standard car has synchros that speed the shafts to the same speed so the clash is minimal and the gear engages smoothly. Double clutching on a regular car is pointless unless you're shifting from 4th to 2nd and such while racing at the track. Mastery of double clutching is hard and useless if not on the track.

Whether or not they did, I love that movie. Don't know why, but I've loved it since 8th grade, heh.

ok dont know what everyone else posted but here is what i do, i drive a subaru wrx so i am use to that transmission, some cars have a different clutch than others. I know where the cluth tends to grab, so i give gas(just a little) then let cluth out a bit and then all the way out after i feel clutch has grabbed.

if that helps any.

While the thread is being hijacked. I actually enjoyed F&F. True, it did blow many things out of proportion but it had some good things and kind of portrayed the street racing scene. 2F2F was absolutely horrible. The money from mitsubishi to feature there cars was ridiculous and then the only reference to street racing at all (in the beginning) was not street racing at all, it was like 4 miles with TURNS over a ****ing draw bridge, how ****ing retarded. The movie left you very empty, as the whole dman movie was, completely empty.
