ok Ive decided to get the basics, exhaust and cold air intake, as well as getting the blow off valves cause they're sick.

no my first question is what else should I put on this, I know the first thing someone thinks is chip or new turbo, but I already know that, what else is there?

my second question is what do the up and down pipes do, and will putting in new ones affect the engine that much?

Relatively cheap and badass performace enhancements as a whole or in pieces try http://www.vishnutuning.com/. They're crazy and should be able to give you some ideas of what direction to start off in.

Is this WRX an STi or just a regular WRX? If it's an STi then you really don't need to do anything to it. Cause it'd whoop even an S2000 stock for stock.

Why would you compare an sti and an s2000?

take a ****ing guess idiot.

And even if it would whoop an S2000, who cares? The s2000 isnt some great car to benchmark it off of.

Oh yeah, and before you do much performance work...

The suspension and brakes that come stock on the WRX are crapola...make your car safer before anything. I truly believe that you will have a whole lot more fun with the car if you can control it better.

Trust me I had a WRX and I totaled it this summer

To repel the cries of shenanigans, pics are here:

http://www.innutech.com/fileman/pers...dons%20WRX.jpg

to make a long story short, I jumped it off a cliff into a ravine...they had to call a crane to pull me out.

Have fun, and be safe buddy. Join the SCCA, you get a free membership when you buy a WRX- go to the tracks.

P.S. They are GREAT cars, pretty much indestructable. Mine was still running after I crashed.

You should look to talk to Pablo2k, I heard that he has a sick WRX.

1) Some people will argue you AGAINST the cold air intake and blowoff valve. Your stock intake is good for 300+ HP, and aftermarket ones won't do you too much good before any engine tuning. Some people argue that BOV's are bad because they can possibly mess with your turbo, and some just say that they don't do anything.

2/3) IMHO, figure out how far you want to go with the car before anything. Then work your exhaust first, at least a Cat-back. If you want to go further replace the up-pipe (engine to turbo) and downpipe (turbo to exhaust), keep in mind that if you replace the latter two you car will not pass emissions anywhere. Subaru plagued the up and downpipes with cats, so replacing them will free up a lot of flow and allow you to tune your engine more extremely. Consider your warranty too, call your dealer, some dealers will void your whole engine for just a BOV.

Continuing where FreekSB-QPR left off, some BOVs will affect the turbo, but a DV (diverter valve) is the way to go, as it will not hurt the turbo, and running it inversely will give you the whoosh sound that so many ricers crave for .

I heard some cars will run rich if you get a bov without using a engine management system. BOV's are pointless unless you get to running high boost pressure. I'd look into getting a forge recirculating bov.

all the BOV does is provent the backpressure of air when you shift from spinning the turbo blades backwards. i dont see how you can say it is bad for a car

Well the ECU wasnt programmed to run with a bov, it was designed for a diverter valve. You can put a BOV on but your car will most likely run rich. Its not necessarily bad for your car but you run the chance of your car running like ****.

Now you can avoid the car running rich by getting a fuel management sytem like I said earlier.

I own an 03 WRX. Your first mod should be an uppipe. Personally, I like the envidia one. I don't think a BOV is a good idea. I have a few people I know who have had the BOV cause problems. Basically, I would just get an uppipe, full exhaust if you can afford it, and chip. Your car would be a lot quicker for under $2,500.

3" exhaust all the way back, no cats. Thats your first mod. It may be loud...

Next get a blow off valve. I don't see how preventing turbo lag can be a bad thing. Put the BOV from the intercooler to the turbo pipe.

this is all a friend of mine did..and his car hauls serious ***. His goal is to not lose to an Evo VIII.

BOV has little if anything to do with turbo lag
