Question Trigger adjustment...

I am trying to adjust my trigger, so that the pull is slightly shorter (or maybe put another way, the rest position is back a little). I have checked the manual, but either it isn't clear on the matter or I haven't understood it.

Has anyone done this? Can someone help enlighten me? Photos would be nice, but any help would be appreciated. Or is there a thread that I have missed?

thx

You have to take the frame off. There is a screw just above the trigger that you can tighten down to shorten the pull. If you look at where the trigger stops at the top of the trigger you will see the set screw. The screw inside the trigger sets the firing point. There is also a spring you can change to set how hard or soft the pull is and I think they are the same as cocker trigger springs. Mine is set so short that my mouse is envious.

First you will need to back out the screw in the middle of the trigger, this is the microswitch adj.screw.

Second back out the rear stop set screw, to the point you want the trigger to stop in it's rearward movement.

The third step would be to tighten the forward travel set screw, until the trigger travel is the distance you prefer.

The last step is to tighten the microswitch set screw so the microswitch is activated and deactivated by the trigger.

Here's the new trigger I just put on my Excalibur;

It's very light and fast. I cut about 1/3 off the return spring to lighten it.

Yeah, but ask him about the humiliating, demoralizing things he has to do to get them!

Why else would a grown man own a chicken suit and drag around a couple of shaved monkeys (he tries to pass them off has his 'twin sons', but don't let him fool you)?

I've seen what he has to do! It ain't a pretty sight!

Question Further trigger adjustment question...

Thanks for the responses... but something isn't working quite right. So follow up questions...

1) I did try taking the handle frame off. Isn't it the two (vertical)screws, one in front of the trigger guard and one behind the handle? Even with those two out, the frame won't budge. Either it's really on tight (even w/o the screws), or there is another screw.

2) mrobnoxious, is your advice conditional on removing the handle frame? If not, I only see two screws: one going into the trigger and one, on the left (from the back) side of the gunjust above the trigger.

I know this trigger adjustment shouldn't be such a pain...

Thumbs up Check and check...

Thanks for everyones help, and the pms as well.

I think I figured everything out, and now have a mouse-envy trigger pull (that does seem to be the popular analogy). Test fires give good results, and Sat will be the first field test. I'm excited to play with a dramatically shortened trigger...

Wait until you shoot it! It's even better! I'm going to talk to AKA about it Monday and see if they''ll produce them for the general public.
