How long a battery lasts depends on what type you have and how much you use it. Most fresh batteries, strong batteries will last a weekend with no problem

Rechargable 9volts, Yes they do. Go with NiMH 8.4volt or better. You can get them at Walmart, Radio shack or a place that caries alot of batteries. You should be able to see what the voltage rating is, if not don't buy it. There is an online company that makes a 9.6volt but you will have to use the search tool to find the web address on this, The AKA, forum. I think it's Tomshardware.com but don't quote me on that.

Good 9v battery

I was told that Excaliburs can operate with batteries running 7.2 volts (Energizer makes a rechargable NMH battery like this), but cold weather can cause the voltage to dip, and then the gun stops working (as it did to me this past weekend).

I was recommended to use a 9.6V "9v" made by Plainview and these can be charged on a Rayovak smart charger in just a few hours.

I have these on order, so hopefully I'll have some 1st hand exp soon.

Batteries

I am using the Plainview rechargeable batteries and the Rayovac recharger. They work great. After recharging the voltage on the batteries are 10.12 to 10.22 volts. Since they are rechargeable I change the battery after each day of play. This prevents running out of juice during a critical game!
