best new car for around $30,000?

Hey guys, I don't know if you remember but in my other thread I got my dad's old camry for my first car and he bought a 99 nissan maxima. Well the maxima has blue smoke coming out of the exhaust when we start the car which I think is a sign of oil burning. My dad doesn't want to be stuck with a car that he will have to keep repairing and fixing so we are looking at new cars for him. He really liked the car when he drove it to work today so he was thinking of getting a 2004 model maxima.

We are also looking at other cars in the price range (toyota avalon, etc) and I'm not sure what would be a good car for him. He doesn't need a whole lot of power but he liked all the luxury features and roominess of the maxima. So what do you think would be a good car for him in the price range? Thanks for the help

My dad has a new audi tt but id say that is out of your pricerange, maybe you could find a used one for $30k? Its REALLY nice and quick but its not all that roomy. If he wants room id say check into a lexus, bmw, or maybe even a benz.

Anything like a BMW 3 series could be way to small for you or your dad's taste as a daily driver. I would reccomend something like a fully loaded camry or avalon.

well he said his dad is using the car for work, so that usually involves one person. a bmw 3-series and the likes have plenty of room for the driver and a front seat passenger. rear seat room however, is quite small.

well im wondering a couple things,

do you have any brother or sisters and if you do what would be the car that drags you all to places together, etc? i think a 2 seater is kinda impractical (although i personally like 4 seater coupes alot) because if you really need to bring people to places or you have clients in the seat, etc and lets say the other cars in the shop or something then what are you gunna do? or even just for the extra space to carry crap

it all depends on what you need, does he definantly want a 2 seater and will not have any use for 4? because then ill look around and see what i can find

Yeah it needs to be a four seater with usable back seats, sorry I forgot to mention that. My dad doesn't care so much about tons of power as much as he does safety, comfort, and function. I know I said around 30 thousand but price is still an issue since we have 3 teenagers in our family that my dad will have to put through college soon, so we dont wanna spend too much money. Thanks for the help guys, keep the suggestions coming

Acura TSX. It's nice looking, reliable, pretty fast, and has good handling.

Yeah I was looking at the tsx on acura's website and it looked very nice. We might check that one out tomorrow. I think we are going to test drive some of these cars that my dad likes tomorrow. I'll show him them after he gets home from work to see which ones he likes best. Any more suggestions are great, thanks for the help

You might want to look into a Volvo S60, great cars and they're one of the safest out there.

The most commonly tested sport sedans around $30 grand seem to be the BMW 3-Series, Infiniti G35, Cadillac CTS, Acura TL, Jaguar X-Type, Audi A4, Volvo S40/60 and the Saab 9-3.

Most everyone says BMW is the champ of sport sedans, but you won't find the others too far off... if off at all. Each one will have distinct features that your dad may be looking for. The trick is to find and test drive them. Scruitinize the things that mean the most to you... how the radio sounds, handling, power, ergonomics and comfort to name a few.

04 EVO VIII, the mr is gonna be over 35Gs and the 05 evo is expected to be around 31 base price. id say almost every 3 series bmw sucks ***, the only worth getting is the 330ci w/ sport package.
