Padded fields?

Just read the Warpig report (pics included) and there is no padding under the outdoor carpeting (aka "turf"). Does anyone know what happened to it? Thanks.

"Asphalt is regarded as a soft surface which absorbs shock,"
is what the nppl says. If it is soft why pad it?

its kinda springy, and VERY VERY VERY easy to slide on. its pretty padded as long as you slide and not fall. they have really nice yard lines too.

How is asphalt a soft surface..it absorbs shock because it doesnt move, because its solid rock. I second that blown out hips comment..

You guys are weak... my futon that I sleep on every night is made of asphalt.

Seriously, it is damn goofy that the NPPL "regards" asphalt as soft. If they start "regarding" player amenities and venue standards in conveniently money saving ways, this will be less and less a players' league.

Hope no one gets hurt.

Turf over asphalt can't be much different than normal ground. It's not like the earth gives either. Asphalt absorbs a lot more shock than concrete would.

Comon, playing in the parking lot of a staduim because our sport is'nt good enough for the turf...

It's a real poor way for the NPPL to treat athletes...

Carpet over sand is okay, but carpet over pavement is not going to absorb anything... It's a very bad idea.
No other sport where athletes hit the ground would even be considered for something like this.

I'm surprised the insurace companies let them do this.
