I love Denver, I live here two and yes it's high altitude, people get tired FAST. Drink as much water the night before, during the day anytime. Don't stay out in the sun too long either or it's VERY easy to get heat stroke in denver. Many people don't realize how hot it can get in Denver.

For the people who don't think that the altitude is going to make a difference, I can't wait to see you suffering from dehydration, and out of breathe all the time.

Also remember, you are a mile closer to the sun, which makes a HUGE difference.

This one time, down on 16th street in Denver, this kid burst into flames 'cause he didn't drink enough!

no, he didn't

You're right, I was lying...

Seriously, it ain't hellish or anything. Lots of old people caome here to go to Rocky Mountain National Park. Only like half of them drop dead when the open the Winnebago the first time. OK, maybe like 3/4, but that's tops.

The thing is, it's serious, dehydration is no joke, but freakin' about it is goofy. Just drink lots of water and you're fine. Even for fat people. All of us athletes ought to be well aware of the importance of proper hydration, right? So don't forget. Drink a pint of water after evey game. Drink like half the alcohol you would drink back home, if you go out. Have some water in between brews to slow you down and prevent hangovers. Be aware of it and it won't even be a problem. I always sweat like crazy in Florida, I drink as much water there as here.

Another thing I just thought of about altitude- don't over eat. That can make you sick, too, at higher elevation.

Basically live healthy for a weekend and you'll be fine. Granola is optional (unless you go to Boulder- then you have to have some).

It's gonna be even rougher on the "visitors" teams when they do a NPPL in Anchorage in October 2005.

I didnt have alot of problems with altitude sickness but the air is kinda thin...I didnt have alot of problems with that either till we got up around 10,000 feet about sea level...Now my wife was sick the whole time we were out there. But I just had a small head ache the first day.

Atleast its not x-ball, there would be oxygen at every pit. Colorado is a big change from so fla we have 100% humidity in 95 degree heat, you can drink the air.

Great pointers everybody.
I live in Salt Lake City(same altitude) and we had an x-ball tourney last weekend and had two people pass out, and it was only 90 degrees.

REMEMBER!!! once you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated, drink even if you don't think you need to.

DEFINITELY DRINK WATER. Soda won't cut it, I don't want to see anyone pass out, that would make it lame

oh yeah, like MastaP said, drink your water even if you dont feel like you need it, or you'll be hurtin, and its not good.

edit- a few days after you get there, go to the top of Pikes Peak,or at least as far as you can, i dunno about how the weather is gonna be now, and stay there for a while and you'll get used to the altitude a little

Guys...the water is important but on another serious note...please use caution when you drink if your driving out here. As everyone has been saying, you will get drunk faster. There are 2 ballers out here who will no longer be playing in the Denver event as they were nailed by a drunk driver running a red light on Saturday!

Hopefully you will see some donations set up in Denver. Please think about then before you get behind the wheel of your rental car and attempt to drive drunk. We have already had 2 of our family be affected by this and will not be able to play. Lets not add any!!!

Good luck all and see ya on the field.

Alan
