I'm in Japan right on the moment of post (Osaka). Can't find anybody play pb, however I've found field at this area -> esperiokyoto.jp (i used altavista's translation service to read it). staff doesn't speak english at all, however very friendly. i had drill there yesterday (everything is expensive), and broke my dm5 (eyes died)...

i'm going home next week, then back japan in dec-january. hope to find somebody to play with...

With any luck at all, my field should hopefully be open (central Japan) by mid-summer. So many things to do, so many hoops to jump through.

There are a few (as in 4 or 5) non-military related paintball fields in Japan, and a few more if you count the wacky 11mm players (.68 caliber is 17mm.)

http://www.palseries.org or http://www.goodpaintball.com are sources for more information.

One of the key factors to the slow development of paintball in Japan is the lack of affordable suitable land. The country is essentially the size of California, 80% of that mountainous, with half the population of the entire USA. Do the math.

Well, I wouldn't say "extinct". I've been spending almost every free moment over the last two years to get my field ready to open (central Japan) and I'm reffing a tournament this month (at another field). In fact, the number of players has been steadily INCREASING over the last couple of years.

There are several reasons why paintball hasn't taken off here like elsewhere in Asia (and around the world). I'd say the biggest reason in lack of information about the sport. #2 is lack of space. Land is obviously at a premium in Japan, and therefore terribly expensive.

On the plus side, there are far more female players (as a percentage) in Japan than in the States. Also, there aren't the same kind of insurance issues here, so having a full-auto tournament is certainly possible (if painful!)

I'm moving to Japan (Tokyo) next spring, and I'm looking for places to play. I'm also trying to find out if importing my gear would be legal.
